How could they leave out Peter Green's Fleetwood mac? PG replaced Clappo in The Bluesbreakers, then formed the Mac with John McVie and Mick Fleetwood...

As a child of the 60s, it was my privilege to see all of these bands live at various venues around London. Happy days !

I saw them all and many others in one group or another in the 60s at Sheffield’s Mojo and Esquire clubs and they were all skint at the time, lol.

Anyone heard of the Animals? You know, Eric Burden and the guys. Played a bit of blues, apparently.

John Peel's name should be in the title, he was an iconic figure for alternative music. Two friends introduced me to John Mayall's Blues Breakers, that led me on to so many great bands & musicians.

I worked in London in the mid 2000s and had the incredible luck of a few meetings with Jack Bruce and he was a lovely and charming bloke who was enlightening and insightful in a very earnest and unpretentious manner.

for me the ultimate british r & b album is 'to mum from ansley and the boys' by the ansley dunnar retaliation. classic stuff virtually on all instruments. f...g great singer, too. super groove. some of the best hammond organ work ever. super blues songs like pearls on a string.

Like all of the different musical elements of the British Beat Boom the blues and jazz influenced groups adapted to the commercial scene.

This looks good! RIP Chris Dreja ( former Yardbird) John Mayall. If one know Who Tom McGuiness ( McGuiness/ Flint), Paul Jones Manfred Mann, Powerhouse, solo, actor - go to the Head of the Class. Pete Frames Rock Trees are used here- I read alot of them in Trouser Press . The Cheynes had some singles produced by Bill Wyman
