Extra tidbit regarding Wojtek--- One of the camp amenities that he enjoyed were the showers, so he often took, ahem, longer than his comrades while soaking. There was a time that an enemy spy was infiltrating the camp, and thought to hide in the shower hut... and ran out screaming, chased out by Wojtek, who cornered and apprehended him. The rest of his comrades caught the spy and interrogated him; and rewarded Wojtek with extra beer rations.

Yennyhow, nicely done, ma'am Eilu, keep up the good work, yo.

fun fact: select insurances in Tazmania actually do now offer insurance coverage for Neil attacks LMAO

11:23 The horror of you realizing that Kiwi's lay eggs the same size as their larger cousins is glorious.

17:59 wojtek's way of enjoying a cigarette was a bit different. The soldiers would place a kit cigarette in his mouth, he would take one puff and then swallow it whole, apparently he was even capable of recognising if the cigarette given to him was lit or not and if it was unlit he would spit it out. Also noone taught him to carry the ammo crates. He just saw 4 of his mates trying to drag this one crate so he understood the mission immediately and began solo carrying the crates to his mates, doing a job of 4 people

The history of Wojtek is honestly even more crazy and Parz just couldn't cover it all.

Another job he was unofficially given was weeding out spies.

Any time an enemy soldier tried to sneak into the base, Wojtek would immediately know they didn't belong, because he knew the smell of his unit, so, if he found the spy, he'd pin them down while roaring to alert the unit, with the enemy never fighting back because, come on, are you REALLY going to risk fighting a freaking Brown bear?

On top of that, if he didn't sniff the intruder out first, they'd unintentionally out themselves when they accidentally found him and would scream like a little girl, because who in their right mind would've expected the enemy to have a freaking Brown bear just wandering around the base?

And, even more insanely, when the war was over, Wojtek was retired to a zoo, where his unit would regularly visit him, not only would they bring him cigarettes for treats, they'd scared the living daylights out of staff and visitors by jumping into the enclosure and wrestling with him.

Bear had THE best retirement ever.

As for the Brown Recluse, unfortunately (most likely because some Americans unknowingly brought them with them while on holiday here), we have them here in Australia too.

Now, true, they're not much of a problem, with very few bites yearly and less than 2% of them being fatal... the problem is that this is Australia, which means 1 of 2 things.

Either our natural spider species will wipe out the Brown Recluse or they're going to end up breeding with them, creating a hybrid abomination.

And there's no middle selection here, it's only those 2 options.

Either our spiders wipe them out or they'll bang em and create the most unholy abomination spider species on the entire fucking planet.

Regarding the sheer number of rounds Emus were able to absorb before dropping, I think this quote from Major Meredith, the officer in charge of the operation, puts it best:

"If we had a military division with the bullet-carrying capacity of these birds, it would face any army in the world... They can face machine guns with the invulnerability of tanks."

Eilu, I pray to you, DO NOT EAT THE KIWIBIRD ALL BECAUSE YOU'RE A CAT!

One of the crazy things about cordyceps is that when other ants detect an infected ant, they will kill it, sever its legs, and then one ant will carry it as far away from the anthill as possible before it can bloom. And they might carry it as far as 2 MILES away.

Ants have a better zombie containment strategy than humans XD

Those ants are the real world Paras. 😅

Quite the first impression. This vid was so entertaining to watch, imma sub. 0:35 my favorite seal, neil the seal

19:18 best part? Wojtek had no training for that, he just saw other soldiers moving artillery and copied them. best boy. 😊

To give you some more nightmares - there are snakes that CAN FLY!

Well, kind of at least. They don't have wings, but they can glide on hot air currents.

Eilucat's reactions are always top tier, great video

35:39 Proof? I’m a visual learner… ☝️🤓

There was another southern elephant seal called Homer who about 40 years ago took over a boat ramp parking lot for a season in Gisborne, New Zealand. He was much bigger than Neil and to emphasize his point the 4500 pound blubber beast body slammed several cars and trucks that he saw as competition on the lot. It’s the funniest thing ever lol. And yes, southern elephant seats are the largest pinnipeds on Earth, larger than the arctic walrus even.

12:59 mosquitoes are only more deadly in Africa where 85% of the worlds victims come from. Underdeveloped to the max.

Believe it or not..... Neil the Seal got two separate songs about himself, a law was made just for him, he's Tasmania's new Mascot

I love more parz

28:30 it's a cage match so no matter what you'll die etherway

19:00 So yes, they do give rank to animal members of both armed forces and police forces. It's traditional to do so, as well as respectful to the animals themselves. Another bit of trivia is that the tradition is to give the animal a rank HIGHER than their handler, it's cute but also serves a function: It is to help prevent abuse of said animal because if the handler were to purposely hurt their animal companion, there would be a litany of charges pressed against them and they would not only be dishonorably discharged, but thrown into military prison for a LONG time. Not only would they be looking at regular animal abuse charges, but also assaulting a superior officer, which is a very steep punishment.
