The Gears of War franchise follows humanity’s desperate war for survival on the planet Sera. After years of internal conflict, humans face extinction when the subterranean Locust Horde emerges during Emergence Day, launching a brutal war against the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG). Soldiers like Marcus Fenix, Dom Santiago, and Delta Squad fight to stop the Locust, uncovering dark secrets about the origins of both humanity’s enemies and the planet itself.

As the war escalates, the Locust evolve into the even more dangerous Swarm, forcing humanity into new alliances and technological warfare. Across the series, Gears of War, Gears 2, Gears 3, Judgment, and Gears 5, the story spans themes of sacrifice, brotherhood, and survival as survivors uncover ancient experiments, biological horrors, and the truth behind Sera’s collapse. Ultimately, the fight shifts from extinction-level war to rebuilding civilization while confronting ever-mutating threats beneath the surface.

This brought back some memories. Maria’s death killed me. I played 1 and 2 when I was on deployment. I was a medic and had my own container so me and our physician assistant loaded up a tv, 360 and his Bose surround sound and played it off our generator in a broken down castle in between missions. I just remember us being so happy to find her only to try not to cry in front of eachother in what was pretty much a cave in Afghanistan. I don’t think any other gaming moment has made me that emotional ever.

Man Dom's death still gets to me very hard to this day, easily the saddest moment in gaming for me

Doms pain always hurt me as a 11 year old kid playing it with my older brother I was mad hurt and doms sacrifice later is still one of the saddest deaths in gaming history

I really want to know who Cole barber cause he line up stayed fresh the whole series

Dom finally finding his wife and her being in that state has to be the saddest I’ve ever been in a game. That shit really hit.

I really missed the horror aspect that Gears 1 has, everything was set up perfectly to portray how badly humanity was losing the war and had a really dark vibe all throughout the game.

Gears of War, for me, is just like Halo; I've played both franchises since back in the XBox 360 days and, almost 20 years later, I still find myself making marathons of each franchise entries, finishing their campaigns one after another, with friends or by myself. Gears of War not only have a fun, relaxing and satisfying gameplay but got a really good story with charismatic characters that wraps the whole package in a shinny must play for any gamer out there

The first Gears of War was the reason I got a 360. The multiplayer was amazing.

You know what the next Gears of War game should revolve around?
Dr. Niles Samson and Dr. Torres, because they're the ones who brought forth the Locust Horde.
This also opens up more fighting against the UIR.

The first time you meet the berserker, is more scarier than all of outlast 2 I straight remember as a kid, refusing to play that mission because I was piss baby scared of it

Honestly disappointed that this only has 500 likes, this was an insanely good video :/

I played all of Gears from 2 to 5 but I never really understood what was happening, this video is really helpful and it didn't even feel like it was 2 hours.

R.I.P Dom 😭 I still shed a tear for him every time I see that scene

Incredible job! You even explained Gears Judgement, I knew something was off but you are right. The military order of the Locust always felt off in Judgement. Remembering the games you can see they had a specific order.
