This video was absolute time travel, Liz! Loved it so much! The makeup. The outfits. THE MUSIC. The perfumes! So exciting you found your OG bottle of Angel! I can remember getting ready to go out, putting on that brown lipstick with Sarah McLachlan playing in the background. I just ordered a bottle of Dune since Dior is discontinuing and reformulating all of the classics... and putting them into sad uniform bottles. Thankfully, as everything turns into some version of greige, even our perfumes, we have our memories!

I was 15 in 1999, so all I really wore were fragrances from the Body Shop, I loved Oceanus around that time. Buying that felt incredibly bougie 😂.

I had a 2002 Angel bottle and it smelt absolutely different to right now. I think everyone now who says they don't like Angel, needs to time travel back to the 90s and smell how good it was.

1999 high school grad here! I never liked Angel when it came out but I’d love to smell the OG version again now, I’m sure I’d have a more nuanced take on it.

Surfacing and everything by Sarah McLachlan was theeeee music of my soooooouuuul in that era! I went to Lilith Fair! I was also listening to Garbage and Smashing Pumpkins and Bush.

I was so enthralled by the J’adore adds! I wanted so much to love that perfume, even bought it multiple times but something about it didn’t work for me. But the aesthetic of the adds and the bottle still make me weak in the knees (and the unbearably gorgeous Charlize Theron!)

1:39 Yes! I worked as a makeup artist, self taught, and Kevyns books plus Bobbi Brown books were how I learned everything! 2:51 I love all of these! I was also big on Tori Amos and Smashing Pumpkins. Bittersweet Symphony is still a banger. 4:22 Love Siouxsie!

I've been buying bottles from my past the last couple of years. Estée Lauder Pleasures was my #1 in high school (graduated in 1997) and college. I used up one of that and a Clinique Happy last year. And this year, I purchased Sunflowers and Calvin Klein Eternity which were also high school & college fragrances for me. I had CK One, but it wasn't a love so I didn't wear it super often. Once I was out of school, I remember wearing Ralph Lauren Romance and Narciso Rodriguez for Her into my 20s. It's so fun to smell the scents again!

❤ Graduated college in ‘92. Brown makeup and lips, MAC and Aveda. Aveda everything lol. Music spot on, I did listen to Hip Hop as well. My go-to 90s movie is “Waiting to Exhale”. ❤

Great video! I started my English literature degrees at Uni. In 1996 and yes- rented all the Austen adaptations on VHS repeatedly! Still the best ones today and high degree of textual fidelity. My CDs in heavy rotation were Mariah Carey’s Music Box and Hero ( on cassette ) and the Bodyguard album! 4 non-blondes and No Doubt were ever present on the radio! I loved Ralph Lauren’s Polo sport for women ( sadly discontinued ), Exclamation! , Elizabeth Taylor’s White Diamonds ( still a cozy favourite for me today) and Gucci Envy , Sun, Moon and Stars from Lagerfeld, I believe was hugely popular! My absolute favourite was Chloe’s Innocence- I am so gutted that it was discontinued so quickly and I even wrote to Chloe to inquire about producing it again ! I would say in the beginning of the 90s I wore Elizabeth Taylor’s fragrances, Red Door, Tresor etc but late 90s lighter scents like Polo sport , Davidoff Cool Water and Issey Miyake! A great decade ! Discos , dancing , old school ways of interacting , land lines, leather wrist watches… sigh ❤

I had a “friend “ in the early 2010’s who bathed in Angel. It was so strong. I don’t think i could smell it again

Lovely walk down memory lane!! I was wearing “Navy” and “Halston” when I was still single-digit ages 🤦‍♀️, we can thank my grandmother for the wonderful gifts 😂

EDIT: I remember wearing “Vanilla Fields” to see “Joy Luck Club” in the theatre with my mom ❤, I was so in love with that fragrance, and seeing a movie was such a treat.

I remember Vanilla Fields, Dune and Navy well. I didn’t wear them but knew several who did.

I graduated high school in 1993 and wore the original Dior Poison (carryover) in high school. I also wore J’Adore, CK1 (not my top 5 but it was good in the summer), Eternity (carry over) and a perfume I adored but cannot remember the name of. I do remember the bottle.

My most worn scent of the 1990s, outside of Poison, had to be China Rain perfume oil.

I listened to Nirvana, AiC, Pearl Jam, NIN, L7, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Janes Addiction, Mazzy Star, STP, Soundgarden, Primus, Prince (always), B-52s (always), Cohen, Nick Cave, Massive Attack, Tori Amos, Garbage, PJ Harvey, a lot of Hip Hop and R&B… I love music and I listened to a lot of it. I’d be here a year if I listed all of it.

I loved a lot of dark wave and electronic music but techno was not my thing for the most part.

I loved so many odd indie movies. My Own Private Idaho, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, Night On Earth, Arizona Dreams, Pulp Fiction (of course), Clerks.

That’ is another topic where I could be here all year because I adore movies. I have always been a horror fan (though I hated Blair Witch). I also like some drama, so many period and Shakespearean movies l(Much Ado, R&J, Twelfth Night) and romance. Comedy. Everything! Even some absolutely campy B movies.
