Every account of Lorgar Aurelian says the same thing. He wanted his father to be a god, his father refused and burned a city to make the refusal stick, and a wounded child set the galaxy on fire out of spite.

There's a second reading that accounts for every one of the same events. It says the Horus Heresy was a seven-year industrial process with a single product, and that product currently sits on the Golden Throne receiving the devotion of a species.

The Lectitio Divinitatus, the founding text of the Imperial Creed, was written by Lorgar. The Emperor evacuated Monarchia over six days and then permitted a single distress call to go out, which is the only reason the Word Bearers arrived to witness the lesson. Lorgar demanded a vision of the future in the Eye of Terror and was shown his father enthroned. He spared Guilliman twice. He performed a working primarch apotheosis at Nuceria a decade before Terra. And when the Siege finally came, the architect of the entire war sat it out on a primitive world, watching by divination, waiting for two specific pieces of confirmation.

This one runs long and it argues against itself in several places, because the honest version has to.
