English is a second language for Ilya. He is still learning it. That interview question was pretty complex.

I don’t think my parents knew what YouTube was 16 years ago.

I think the vibe Ilya caught is that Shane was hard as a rock looking at him in the shower lol

Shane is also neurodivergent which explains some of his "quirks" !

24:30 One of my favourite small details in this episode is how Shane gets fully dressed, but waits to start putting on his shoes until Ilya comes out of the shower, to hide the fact that he was waiting to talk to Ilya

I feel you'll enjoy how this show does "show don't tell" so effectively!!! So much conveyed by non verbal communication, the show just trusts the audience to pick it up and it's great!

“Shouldn’t be a massive commitment”. Sir, this show has hijacked my life.

it’s sooo funny that you mention sex sells cuz they both got matching tattoos that say that 😂 also about the interview scene, ilya was struggling with the long questions in english and shane noticed that he didn’t fully understand how to answer so he helped.

People also often forget, that English is not Ilyas first language. He struggles sometimes.

"Consent ?".... Ilya is the KING of consent !!!

Fun fact! Shane is canonically undiagnosed autistic, and the actor said he based his performance on his own dad, who's autistic! If you pay attention you'll see he takes things too literally, always looks uncomfortable in his own skin, has a flat affect to his voice, and sometimes it's like his eyes are emoting more than the rest of his face. As an autistic person I can see a lot of myself in Shane and I know I'm not the only one! Hudson did an amazing job

About the first hookup, I think it's more that the two of them have been thinking about each other for a year and a half at this point and are super young that explains why they're both quick on the trigger, and not any real expertise on Shane's part.

Can we acknowledge that the soundtrack of HR makes the story pop? It's one of the best soundtracks I've heard in a long time

Two things, Connor Storie, who plays Ilya Rosanov, is actually American, from Texas! Also, when mom say to F* him right up the B*tt, Shane is actually thinking, No mom, it's the other way around!

7 minutes in, and I already love your style and know you're going to adore episodes 4-6. It would be really interesting to hear your thoughts on the early episodes again once you've finished the season -- there's enough richness and intentionality to this show that I'm sure you would be able to glean additional insights!

Ilya has an Eastern Orthodox cross around his neck - which unlike Catholic and Protestant crosses has three horizontal bars with the middle one being larger than the others , and the bottom one being diagonal.
