Join us for our reaction to *BABYMETAL - Metal Kingdom* live from Day 2 of the BABYMETAL Begins Clear Night Concert at PIA Arena Yokohama (12,000-seat arena, April 2023)! Ashley and I are back for our third BABYMETAL reaction and we’re obsessed with the insane stage production, epic outfits, tridents, lights, smoke, and that perfect blend of sweet high vocals with crushing metal riffs.

We geek out over the freedom theme (make it your own!), the massive crowd energy, how the live show hits harder than the studio version, and why BABYMETAL’s juxtaposition of pure aesthetics with heavy metal is unbeatable. Charles nailed this request — huge thanks! Which BABYMETAL song should we tackle next? Drop it in the comments, smash like if the energy got you hyped, and subscribe for more honest music reactions!

One of my favorite things about BABYMETAL is that its not just a musical performance is like an entire theatrical event. They obviously take great pride in what they do.

Their shows in Japan are unbelievable. They are attended by fans from all over the world. They are usually held in 15-25,000 capacity arenas. They have also sold out arenas around the world (O2 in London, Intuit Dome in US, LA Forum in US, CDMX in Mexico). Most recent album went to #9 on Billboard main chart and #1 on Rock chart. They regularly are third from top act on the main stage of major metal festivals all over the world and headline festivals in Japan. They are very popular for a metal band and incredibly popular internationally for a Japanese group that sings mainly in Japanese.

One of my favorite babymetal moments was when they were touring with red hot chile peppers, and chad smith got the entire stadium to sing happy birthday to su-metal and he gave her a bday cake.

Babymetal just announced their upcoming North American tour. Be sure to check them out if they're coming near you.

Babymetal spare no expense on their shows they do in Japan. The huge elaborate stages are for the most part one time builds and do not tour but may play for multiple shows at the same venue. Their production staff are top tier and nothing they do is ordinary. Shows like this one, PIA Arena, Live at the Tokyo Dome, and especially the Legend S Baptism XX are masterclasses in stage design.

Good reaction, but this was not the PIA Arena Clear Night live performance you had recommended to you, this was the official video (with added subtitles) which was filmed at the BABYMETAL Returns concerts at Makuhari Messe in January 2023 - the audio was from the studio recording.

BABYMETAL Returns were their first concerts in nearly 2 years having been prevented from touring by the pandemic and subsequently taking a 12 month or longer hiatus.

Makuhari Messe has a 25k capacity, they had probably sacrificed some of that with the elaborate stage set up. There were main stages at either side of the arena, the thrones and Fox Gate on one, the Kami Band performing on the other. Joining both main stages was the walk way separating the audience to either side and with two smaller moving stages which travelled the length of the walkway.

'Metal Kingdom' is a sort of rallying call for The One (BABYMETAL's fans), so it worked as the opening song for these concerts where they returned following a very long break.
In the PIA Arena performance it was their first as the new trio with Momometal having been revealed as the new third member at the end of the Black Night concert the night before, so all three girls rose up from below stage, each of them seated on their own ornate throne.

I was just about to turn everything off and go to bed but my Queen caught my eye thank you

Su's voice is just amazing here. She is so versatile.

That's how to return to your fans after an hiatus of over a year . They have just announced a North America tour playing venues from around 9.000 capacity to 30.000 . They always sell out there shows no matter where they perform . I have seen them six times now most recent was the O2 Arena in London in 2025 a sold out 20.000 capacity audience . They performed in front of 50.000 + British metalheads at Sonisphere in the UK in 2014 Su was 16 and Moa and Yui 15 their first metal festival outside Japan
If you want to see how they did react to Ijime Dame Zettai live at Sonisphere 2014 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

Nice reaction, thanks!
They opened for GnR in January 2017 in Japan (4 dates). They had already sold out (twice) the freaking Tokyo Dome (55K people each night), so they were already very popular there.
Yes, they really care when it comes to live performances and they spare no expenses on their arena-size shows. They perform on smaller venues when they tour worldwide with much less props, but they are scaling up their tours lately and it's common to find 10K-15K (and even larger) venues for their 2026 world tour. I've seen them live in venues from 2.5K capacity clubs to 22,500 arenas (and all in between) and they are really amazing in any environment.

This is an absolute beast of an anthem, especially with that "oooh-oh!" call to arms.

Nice reaction. This is Babymetals return to their Metal Kingdom, the stage in front of a live audience after the covid lockdowns ended. As you can see it was very cool but came across as very serious and some fans thought Babymetal had lost their fun factor now that they were adults. Little did they know what was to come, O ye of little faith. This is Babymetal and Kawaii Metal is what they do. The fun factor returned in a big way. And then Kawaii overload for some when Momoko joined the group. They know how to put on a big show for sure. The must-see group of the century. See You

When Babymetal do an arena show in Japan, it's always two shows on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Usually they do two different setlists on the two nights, but not always. On this occasion at Babymetal Begins - The Other One: Black Night & Clear Night, it was to different setlists. Metal Kingdom was the show opener on Clear Night (Sunday), so they opened the show in spectacular fashion. Momometal (on the left side) was announced as the new permanent third member of Babymetal at the end of the previous night (Black Night), so this song was her first as an official member of Babymetal. The whole show was a big occasion to officially welcome Momo to the band and to relaunch Babymetal with the new lineup, new uniforms, and new logo. I was lucky enough to be there in the crowd to see this performance live, and it remains my favourite Babymetal show that I have been to to date.

The lyrics of this song inspire the British people today.

Everytime I come across a reaction to this song, I have to tell this story. I work in IT. I had been working a rather significant issue costing the company hundreds of thousands of dollars per hour.... and I was about 36 straight hours into working the issue, hitting a wall. So I took a forced break, laid down, and got a couple of hours sleep. Upon awakening, I immediately logged back on to re-attack the issue when I saw this video had dropped. I figured, the system has been down this long, it can wait another 5 minutes. So stressed to max, exhausted to the extreme, tensed up to the max and not even aware of it. I clicked the link. The song starts.... and then Su's vocals start. The moment I heard her vocals, somehow, I felt the tension release from my body. Subconsciously, my shoulders had been all tensed up (I was not even aware of it). Su starts singing, the tension physically released, and my shoulders relaxed (making me aware for the first time how tensed up they had been), along with the rest of me. When I went to bed and when I first woke up, the world sucked. I hear Su sing the first two lines of a song in a language I don't even understand and suddenly, the world was back to being a great place to be. Renewed, I attacked the problem, finally getting it resolved. I don't know how she does it. I don't understand the physics or chemistry of it. I can just attest that it's real.

That's not what this video is this is from the Babymetal returns from January 2023

Including their Japan shows they've done this year, they're basically touring 5 continents again this year.

Just saw them last Dec at the Intuit Dome in LA...sold out! 18k filled to the max!! Saw some of the metalest men there too and children! They are on another tour btw now, and they been touring for 3 years straight and they sell out everywhere! Even in small venues, I saw them in 2024 at the house of blues Anaheim CA... capacity of only 700 and it was sold out all 3 nights! People lining up at 7am in the morning to see a show staring at 8pm!! BABYMETAL IS FOR REAL! THEY ARE as popular as G&R back in the '80s when they were headlining and teens going crazy! BABYMETAL has that type of fans going bananas! And BABYMETAL in Japan sells out 50k seat arenas on the regular!
