I have cried to this song so many times, especially the "Legend S" version and I'm no snowflake, I've been through so many things that have hardened my heart like losing a child and such. This song breaks my hard so badly, but it is still my absolute number 1 song of theirs.

When she sings this song, she has a special expression on her face that’s different from any other. Oh, that’s right—she had that same look during 'Monochrome - Piano ver.' too. These two songs must be truly special to her.

Great reaction - and it just goes to show Su can make you feel the emotion and understand the meaning of a song (which you got pretty much spot on) even if you can't understand the language.

This is one of 4 Su-metal solo songs (2 on each of the first two albums).  The others are 'Akatsuki' (there is also an 'unfinished' version of that which she performed just one time at the Legend 1997 concert in Dec 2013 that pulls on the heart strings as much as this), 'Amore' and 'Rondo of Nightmare'.

Yui and Moa also had 2 songs on each of the first two albums that they would perform as a duo called Black BABYMETAL without Su.  Those songs are 'Onedari Daisakusen', 4 No Uta', 'GJ' and 'Sis Anger'.

'No Rain, No Rainbow' has been performed live just 7 times.  Legend 1999 June 2013, Budokan Black Night March 2014, Tokyo Dome 2016, both nights at Legend S December 2017 and two of the 10 Budokan shows in 2021.  Those last two performances also had an intro video with a story about a piano (unfortunately this video missed showing that), but it added to the fact that Su also sat at (and she has confirmed in a recent interview that she was playing) the piano midway though the song before a significant (I think 17 second?) break in complete darkness and silence.

This Budokan 2021 performance is so good, but most people consider the Legend S performance to be the definitive one.

Su was not entirely happy with her performance the first time they performed this song at the Legend 1999 concert in June 2013.  She felt she was concentrating more on hitting the notes and singing the right lyrics and that she didn't have the life experience to do the song the emotional justice (she was still only 15).
It was for this reason that she decided she wasn't ready to record the song for the first album as well.  Only when she saw people crying in the audience at a later performance did she realise she could effect people emotionally with her voice and that she maybe was doing the song justice.  Only then did she agree to record the song - it was on the second album.

The song itself is an homage to or inspired by X Japan's classic 'Endless Rain'.

This one is a true rarity, and has never been performed outside of Japan.
The last line of this song is:    
"An endless rain fills my heart, forever."    
That's a reference to the X-Japan song 'Endless Rain'.
Su-metal and Moametal were later able to join Yoshiki; X-Japan's leader, songwriter, drummer and pianist for a performance of that song on Japanese TV, with some other special guests.
Of course Su delivers this song with exceptional clarity and emotional resonance.
If she didn't love singing so much, she could have been a successful actress.

I totally agree: you don't need to understand the lyrics to feel the emotions the song conveys. It's the overall vibe and above all, Su-metal's powerful vocals and her ability to express emotions through her performance. I'm not usually into ballads of any kind but I have to admit that she gets me every time with this one.
The song is a tribute to X-Japan's "Endless Rain" and debuted live back in 2013. But Su (being just 15 at the time) wasn't happy with her performance because she was more focused on hitting the correct notes than on conveying the emotions. To the point they didn't include it on their first album in 2014 and only played it a few times live. Later she realized she was moving the audience to tears.
"No Rain no Rainbow" is still a rarity today, since it has been performed live only seven times.

Great reaction and discussion, mate! You should take a look, and listen, to the version of the song from the Legend XX concert. It was from Su's 20th Birthday concert. That show was also the first without Yui performing with them and also the last concert with one of their guitarists, Mikiyo Fujiyaka, before his untimely passing. Very emotional version of the song and you really get a good look at the Kami band playing as well.

Indeed, there is much more to BABYMETAL than the ´unarmed´ eyes and ears may notice, and NRNR will show this, as well as the other SU-METAL solo performances. Some of the ´full-on BABYMETAL´ songs, involving MOAMETAL, YUIMETAL, and, of course!, MOMOMETAL, will show this as well.

If there´s still the question why we call SU-METAL "Queen Su", the question should be answered by NRNR with its various live performances. She is an incredible performer, an outstanding clean singer, and her stage presence is sometimes out of this world.

It was one of her four Solos and exactly these Solos were the divide between the idol of her childhood and the professionalism what her life demanded and according to Su the piano was live. Those were the little peaces from the small teenagers who smile in the camera and explain that they have nothing to do with their music to the songwriter of today. The Songwriter that obviously now Capitol Records and Amuse want to push.

Exactly this was the point. These Solos were important for Babymetal, she gave Yui and Moa their break, while at the same time their songwriters got a chance to build something different in her Songs, less chaotic , more driven. And these were the elements that were possible in Babymetal. They had the money to produce many different Songs that could take time to allow their talents to fine tune different skills.
