Multiple marriages causes poverty for men.

My dad can’t retire , he just keeps buying shit he doesn’t need.

If money could talk it would say, Save Me Today and I Will Save You Tomorrow

I used to tell my ex and our daughter all the time, if you live like you have money, you'll always be broke, and if you live like you're broke, you'll always have money.

I worked every Saturday for 10 years and put it in the S&P 500. Worked for me.

I was a pharmacy tech for years living in the Seattle area.  I worked my ass off my whole life and pinched pennies,  did everything right.  But Seattle is an expensive place to live, so I put everything I had to buy a home.   I did get a house and still have a mortgage and owe $69,000 on it.  Then I got injured and could not work.  At 45 years old had to go on SS disability at $940 a month.  Even if you still work hard one car crash can distroy your life.

You won't believe how fast, going from 36 to 54 goes... 😆  It seemed about as long as high school did.

I started my 401K at 22. I'll be 61 in a month. We have a million saved. We never made a lot of money.

I wish more people understood that Social Security was not meant to replace a full paycheck. 💚

As a 54 yr old guy I cannot stress enough to young people PLEASE max out your Roth IRAs when you are young. Do whatever you have to to pay that BILL first. Live at home at long as possible. Get your associates from a community college and the bachelors at the local U and stay home. When you are 55-60 you can walk into work and whenever you want tell them to SHOVE it and never work again. DO IT!

Warren Buffet once said " If you buy everything you want today, tomorrow you would have to sell everything you need"!!

Not having a plan for retirement is usually the first and probably the biggest mistake.

There’s two kinds of people:

1. Those that like having the money.
They go through life like a beast of burden toting a back pack of gold, while eating thorny thistle.

2. The other person likes what money will buy.
They spend every dime they make on their many desires and they even spend money they have yet to make.
They have no security, they don’t sleep well.
Best to be in the middle. Enjoy some, save some.
Savers have to work some at spending, and spenders have to work some at saving.
This gentleman is correct…
“The Real wealth is good health”.

65 Retired here. I never married and always lived frugal. Folks made fun of me my whole working years for not having the latest and greatest and scrappy house.
But I am done and they will work till they die.

I’m also self-employed and I have solo 401k, IRA, HSA all set up. This allows me to claim maximum income tax deductions. Employees pay a lot more in taxes than I do.

I am 68. Four years retired with no boat but I'm doing okay -:)

He has a nice backyard and his house looks pretty decent. He's not suffering.

When self-employed, you save money for retirement and it lowers your tax burden. It's a no-brainer.

I started at 22 saving for my 401k. I’m 48 and have a million.  I dunno if it’s enough. What do I know I didn’t see the ocean till 21 or left the country til 24. Here’s my list. 70 countries visited. Hawaii over 20 times, learned to fly airplanes, taught myself to ski and have skied the best places in the world. SCUBA diving, I’ve dove everywhere. Ran a marathon, got below 10% body fat. Bought & sold my dream car. Raced jet skis in my late teens. Married the perfect woman and have a wonderful 5 year old.  I’ve crushed my bucket list. I can say I’m satisfied. Now approaching 50, I focus on helping others, being of service. It’s a ruse people. Honestly I’m good. If I meet my maker, I’m good. Death doesn’t scare me. I lived the dream. Invest in yourself people. Live, spend it, enjoy it.

Wow, 50 years ago the Dow was at about 1,000. Today it is around 53,000.  Just image how much money this guy would have with just a little bit of responsibility and discipline, instead of acting like a child and buying everything that he could see.
