Do you know someone who’s been fired recently?

I can't express this enough YOUR CO-WORKERS ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS!!!!

Screwing people out of their retirement is seriously evil.

THE HARDER YOU WORK. THE BETTER VACATION THE BOSS WILL HAVE.

A guy who works with me is 70 years old. He worked at a prior job for 25 years and had full retirement. Shortly after he and multiple others had retired, the company mysteriously ran out of money and filed bankruptcy cancelling all their retirement. A month or so later the same company started right back up under the same name just with the word “new” in the title since a company can’t restart with the same name after filing bankruptcy. My guess is that the owner just withdrew the money and filed bankruptcy to get rid of paying the retirement to those employees then started right back up with a very slightly changed name.

I replaced a guy who was retiring after 40 years.  He was an absolute road warrior and knew everyone and everything about his industry.  He had hundreds of work friends and people would swarm around him when he walked into a room.  I ran into him a year after retirement and he told me that not one person had reached out to see how he was doing.

HR is full of it. Thieir role is to protect the company, not the employees

Friendship at work is smoke and mirrors

When i was in my 40s i began to worry about retirement.  I discussed this with my husband, and decided to look for a retirement house that we could pay on while we were both working.  Fortunately, i found a house built in 1929 with hardwood oak floors, etc. It was located in a small town that i was familiar with.  We were fortunate enough to purchase it for under 100,000. We paid 2 mortgages for awhile,  one for the home we lived in in the big city and one for our retirement home.  Circumstances led us to rent our retirement home out to good renters who paid the rent on time and didnt tear the place apart. Anyway, when retirement came, we sold our city house and moved to our retirement home and thats where we are now.  Everything worked out money wise.   So, if youre able, i encourage you to plan for the future. Nobody is going to take care of you but you.

My mom was a nurse for 30 years in a nursing home and they laid her off  2 days after she had knee surgery . No medical . No income . She wore out her knees lifting people  for 30 years and they did her dirty.

So let me get this straight; Gen X are being fired, boomers are getting fired, meanwhile millennials and Gen Z’s are not getting hired…. We are currently living in a very dystopian society.

Nobody NOBODY at work is your friend or “has your back”.
The company DOES NOT care about you, your family or anything other than money for rich investors….NOT YOU!

The youth want older employees out so that they can have their jobs but the government doesn’t want to give out Social Security until the age of 67 and now beyond

Kids - learn a trade - avoid companies. Become a plumber, HVAC tech, electrician, nurse, landscaper....something that will always be needed. College is a dying game.

Remember: Your employer views you as nothing more than a number, so you need to view THEM as nothing more than a paycheck.

No one in a work environment is a friend. They are a coworker. That's it.

Managers and coworkers are NOT your friends, they are NOT your family. You are there to earn the roof over your head. Just because you get hired somewhere does not mean you stop looking for work or stop learning skills. Keep learning, keep your options open.

In the past, when you saw an older Coworker, you think "I hope I'm not still here at their age" but these days you HOPE you're lucky enough to still any job at their age.

Employers think they're better off losing older employees because they think they're keeping the more relevant and energised, but they lose so much in experience, loyalty, and attitude!

So in a nutshell, companies can’t afford to pay you anymore, that’s a sure sign of economic decline.
