Today marks Day for Daniel, the Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s biggest fundraiser each year. The support given through fundraising continues to enable the development of free programmes and resources to help equip children and young people with knowledge about safety. These are available to parents and carers as well as educators. Funds also go towards helping young people who are victims of crime.

A bus not stopping because it's late is just stupid. You pick up people waiting.

The penalty for raping a child is shockingly light. Steal a child's innocence and emotional well being and do a couple years🤬

How can you only receive 2 years for raping a child and then 4 for doing it a second time?  Man, they need to revise their penalty system!

The morcombes are friends of mine. Brad (Dans twin) is happily married with kids and Dean his older brother run a successful business at the sunny coast with beautiful kids as well. He should have been in prison for attacking a young boy at daycare when he was 19. That is evil and no one should be allowed to walk free after that.

I live 30 minutes away from the memorial under the bridge he went missing from. The 2 times I have visited, 10 years apart, it is always full of flowers, cards, candles & toys; even still to this day. He would have been 36 this year, but he'll always be forever 13. RIP little mate.

I bet that bus driver suffered with terrible guilt. I don't care how late he was, he should have NEVER driven past a child.

I just DO NOT UNDERSTAND how any criminal Justice system can think 2-7 years for hurting a child is enough time for a monster!!!!!

I walk in the Day for Daniel every year.  I never want him to be forgotten. I have met Daniel's Mum a couple of times from the walk, all these years later you can see a part of her is permanently broken. God bless them all.

As an Aussie, I remember this like it was yesterday. Sweet, precious boy only wanted to go buy Christmas presents at the time. I still wonder what has been going through the mind of the bus driver who didn’t stop to pick Daniel up. Not his fault, of course, I won’t even look at pics of Daniels killer. He creeps me out. Imagine what poor Daniel must have endured. His parents and two brothers have been amazing. Using their tragedy to keep Aussie kids safe. RIP! Daniel. You’ll never be forgotten, darling boy. 😔❤️🇦🇺

How the hell he only serve 4 years for what he did to that child. Unbelievable. Surely a crime like that is a sign he needed to be kept behind bars forever. 🤬

I don’t understand why people who violently rape a child ever get out of incarceration.

My thought is that once a person does that they show us that they are not capable of living in society.

I don’t think a lot of crimes are a “one and done” situation but this kind of behavior absolutely is.

20 years? Is that it? Considering what he'd done coupled with his previous convictions, that's absolutely pathetic. The fact that he'll see the light of day again at all is a travesty!!

In Australia we have a Day for Daniel. In school we wore red on that day, we never got told the full details but all the kids knew that it was important that Daniel will never be forgotten.
