Tatsunoko vs Capcom is one of those video games that can only happen once due to the licensing nightmare that a follow-up would need to circumvent.

Which is a shame, considering how much of a sleeper hit it is.

Potential Video Idea: Cut Characters from Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Roll got such a glow up from MVC2 to this game.

TvC Roll is to this day one of my favorite fighting game characters. As unlikely as it is, I really hope she can come back in a potential new VS game

You should talk about the characters that didn't show up again after MvC2. Cable, Marrow, Sonson, Ruby Heart, Amingo, Servbot, hell, even characters from previous games like Norimaro and Anita.

At least Batsu and Saki are in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Community Edition. That counts for something.

Saki is such a good pull here, idk why but I love how well the roster synergizes with the Tatsunoko franchises

Fun detail about roll’s healing super. It doesn’t just heal her, but any character that’s considered a robot, friend or foe. An enemy can jump above her to grab it before it makes contact, or she can call her assist and drop it on them to heal her assist.

Interesting how “kicking the bucket” has a total different meaning in portuguese! While in English is related to death, in Portuguese means to be fed up/ to be very angry with something! Cheers from Brazil!!!

Idc how good the character is. My favorite flavor of character is big strong person that does fat damage. Alex was always my go-to for TvC

Man, TVC Giant Characters were such a fun gimmick, helped breath some life into the standard team fighter formula. I'd love to see more team fighters explore the mechanic more.

gotta appreciate how many armored overheads are in TVC, shoutouts to Kashern

I'm pleased to see this beloved Wii fighter once again get some spotlight on your channel. Interesting focus for this video as well. Given what we know about the history of Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite, I did wonder why Capcom didn't pull from Tatsunoko vs Capcom as an already made (and thus less budget to expend) expansion for the Capcom side of things. It'd of added some additional variety to the Capcom side, which was otherwise mostly the MvC3 roster but less.

10:00 - Batsu wasn't really a character I ever used (and out of the many Rival Schools character I've seen glimpses of, his design is surprisingly forgettable) so this factor about his Super is real cool to here. What a fun nod and to think they made four variations for it.

11:05 - The choice of Megaman Legends Megaman was an interesting one. Given the timing and the Nintendo exclusivity, I would have figured Network or Starforce Megaman would have made more sense but I do feel the cheery and somewhat clunky styling to Volnutt here makes him fit better when put up against the Tatsunoko characters. His drill is a satisfying sight, though I never could use the character very well.

14:06 - An the additional trap to force the opponent to jump over is handy as well; great utility. Roll was one of my main characters when I played TvC, and whilst it's a shame she didn't keep her cool Mega Man 8 attire, it was nice that she became a much more efficient and viable fighter compared to past Vs experience.

17:42 - Hilarious; always love to see when something is notorious enough to have a special mention in the wiki like this. Saki was also one of my Mains back when I played TvC (and the character I wish most of all made the transition to MvC). The character roster on even the Capcom side was incredible in this game; so much variety of both big and obscurer IPs.

Great video!  Always glad to see someone cover my favorite fighting game.  I do have a few notes to add.  Level one supers in TvC very rarely have invincibility, so you rarely see them used as reversals.  However, both of Megaman Volnutt 's level 1's do.  This is good as reversals of course, but crucially for TvC, them having invincibility means they can both beat bursts.  Layering burst baiting into your offense is huge at higher level TvC, so Volnutt having 2 one bar options to do so is extremely good.

Saki is quite possibly my favorite character of all time.  One absolutely enormous thing about her zoning is that her jump C is whiff cancelable, and you can throw grenade in the air, which you can then jump cancel into repeating the sequence!  This is the core of her zoning.  Just doing this will play the game for you much of the time and will demolish less experienced players.  With how many ways you can vary it with your air actions this tactic stays a core of her game at all levels of play.  One other interesting air action she has is to whiff cross over air rade.  Essentially, it acts as an unintended drop dash, and since you can whiff cancel into it you can super jump, jump C, grenade, jump cancel, jump C, whiff cancel to across over air raid, land and either super jump again to start the sequence back up or stuff their grounded options.  And you can air dash twice during all of this, and if you have baroque you can get a third set of air actions to perform as well.  It's absolutely nasty zoning, but one you can be extremely creative with.  At superjump height Saki is playing a choose your own adventure novel and it's beautiful.  Her command grab is good, but in practice it's a slight but less powerful than you might think.  Chicken blocking is extremely strong in TvC, and Saki's pressure sequences leave you a lot of room to do so.  As such when you're on defense against her you do a lot of up backing, which means getting a command grab off can be tricky to do.  It's still good though, especially against the giants, whom she absolutely murders on all fronts.  Also, you can combo off her level 3 counter super.  What a beautiful character!  My mom thinks she is very cute.

One important thing to mention for Saki, Alex, and Soki's assists the Supercombo wiki probably didn't mention is that these three assists have assist unblockable properties.  If you perform a low attack that your opponent blocks and you call one of these assists you then have a pretty decent frame window where all low attacks are true unblockables.  I want to say it's a 13-18 frame window, but I can't remember the specifics.  Unlike the most common unlockable method in TvC, the baroque unlockable, this let's you threaten unblockable damage while keeping baroque in stock to bait bursts.  To be honest this isn't  quiteas absurd as it sounds since defensive options are really powerful in TvC, and Saki's assist can whiff at most distances on good portion of the cast while crouching, but it's still another extremely strong offensive layer to keep in mind when pressuring your opponent.

Soki was one of my favorite characters, his range caught people online at the time off guard, and I always had combos ready to follow up, Batsu had lots of little tricks, and you vould spam his divekick in the to get big combos

I can't get enough talking about this game either!!! It's so good!

Since I'm about a thousand years old, I used to watch Gatchaman when I was a kid (called G-Force when it was on TV in the US). The characters were created by Yoshitaka Amano when he was just 15. Amano went on to create tons of art, including all the characters and monsters in the early Final Fantasy games. His most well known character is probably Vampire Hunter D.

I do think it would have been incredible if they would have been able to get the Samurai Pizza Cats into the game. At least they got a Famicom game back in the day and a new Samurai Pizza Cats game is currently in the works!

Great video on a phenomenal game! You never disappoint, Khanage!!! 🎮

Edit: Amano also created Casshan and Tekkaman, who are also both in the game!

I really like how Frank plays in this! So much so I mainly pair him with whoever else I’d wanna play like Volnut or Batsu. (9:37 also an error here with who’s listed)

This is interesting to hear about. Because in his home game it's actually the opposite.

Hyper Bomb is considered the more niche super because while it has invincibility and can be comboed into (as long as the opponent's back is turned)

It's hilariously useless outside of combo and way riskier as an invincible reversal because it's not instant, meaning you can just hold jump after the super flash if you're not in lag or in the middle of an action.

Meanwhile Boomerang Raid is seen as the more useful super because it can be comboed into at any time, making it more consistent. It also has invincibility, so it too can be used as a reversal...

And the final nail on the coffin is that Boomerang Raid gives him way more meter to work with (this is very important because Alex relies on using his EX moves a lot).

I hope they include this in a potential Capcom Fighting Collection 3

Casshan was my favorite add on, that reboot anime was fire
