I am in love with the irony of the filmmakers trying to reinvent Blofeld to escape the Austin Powers tropes, only to end up making Blofeld practically the same relation with Bond as Dr Evil is revealed to be with Austin Powers in Goldmember.

Really was stupid to retroactively try and make Saoul Silva be working for Spectre. Silva's whole thing was intensely personal revenge against M. It takes away his agency having a mastermind be pulling his strings.
It'd be like if The Dark Knight Rises was like "The Joker was actually working for the League of Shadows".

Rejecting Radiohead for being too "dark and melancholic" is like blaming water for being wet.

The best James Bond movie released in 2015 was Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation.

I find it funny that the earlier attempts to bring Blofield back to the big screen We're made with the idea to make him significantly different to avoid Austin Powers and Dr Evil comparisons... only to then accidentally use the Austin Powers and Dr Evil backstory.

Blofeld was always a one dimensional cartoon bad guy in the franchise, that's why he was a perfect target for parody. He always worked best as the shadowy puppet master behind Spectre. Giving him human dimensions lessens his mythic status as a supervillain.

Tilda Swinton would absolutely kill it as a Bond villain. However, can blofield even work in current day with austin power parodying it so hard that it became the standard?

Both alternate Blofeld ideas are far better than the Austin Powers parody backstory we got in Spectre.

Blofeld being Bond's brother was literally a joke done in 'Goldmember' between Dr Evil and Austin Powers. THEY LITERALLY COPIED A SPOOF AND TRIED TO MAKE IT SERIOUS 😂😂😂

Fun fact the working title for spectre was blue harvest

Radiohead’s Specter was not rejected for being “too dark”. They originally submitted an unreleased song, which was written to be a Bond tribute, but it was rejected because the producers wanted something specifically written for the movie. Once the song was finished, Writing on The Wall was already accepted, and they even finished the title sequence to go along with it. Sam Mandes, the director, liked Specter so much that he tried to find a spot for it in the movie, but to no avail. He deemed it a wasted opportunity to have such a cool song not be used in the film.

Spectre will always be Craig's worst Bond to me, as it removed all the grit the other films had. There was no real tension; Craig wasn't in it, and his performance shows. If they had done the two-part, it could've been his proper conclusion, filled with mystery and suspense, and Tilda as the villain would've killed it. Waltz, at that point, was becoming a typecast as the villain, and there was nothing new about this one to make him interesting; he felt really bland.

It's unbelievable that EON was worried about Blofeld being parodied by Austin Powers, but made him his half brother-ish. And it would be better if Blofeld wasn't angry with Bond from the beginning, rather than he disliked him, but after Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, really wanted revenge. And Silva, he was grateful that Bond takes care of him, who was a loose cog. Oberhausen should've been a different person. It makes Blofeld an alias or a code name.

This is a true story I remember someone told me that they film had a giant octopus attacking London as the ending, full on kaiju- being someone who has never seen James Bond I thought “that can’t be right” but I still went and saw it all I could think from start to end was “where was the octopus”

One thing unmentioned was Drive and Only God Forgives director Nicholas Winding Refn was approached to direct but he rejected the offer and Mendes was offered to return

Fun Fact: Hugh Jackman was originally approached for the role of James Bond in Casino Royale before Daniel Craig was cast, but turned it down due to scheduling conflicts with the X-Men Film Series.

I find it hilarious that Radiohead's original song for the film was rejected for being "too dark" and "melancholic."

Either the producers never heard another Radiohead song in their lives, or they wanted Radiohead to pull a Sheryl Crow and do something radically different than their style.

The original Goldeneye script is also worth checking out. The opening was on a train, Trevelyan was older and a mentor to Bond, had a darker and more serious tone, with several other differences

As a fan of Bond and Skyfall, I was massively disappointed with Spectre. At the end, I think they should’ve kept with Quantum storyline and wait to tell Blofeld/Spectre elements after Craig was done as Bond.

I remember reading about M being a traitor and Ralph Fiennes refusing to do that, so that had to be changed
