"Joker has a problem with black women."

That's a hell of an opening line. 😆

”YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVED!!!” - Rian Johnson, opening day of TLJ to his middle school bullies that loved Star Wars.

"The Joker movie is meh, It's really not very good"

- "Oh, why do you think that?"

"Because it's just like Taxi Driver & King of Comedy"

- "...Aren't those considered really good movies?"

"..."

Basically most "critiques" of the Joker movie.

Maybe the real rising up were the friends we made along the way :)

The Joker movie, a movie so good that much of the media was disappointed when people didn't go out and commit violence in the name of the movie.

The people that shat on Joker are the same people that hailed TLJ as a subversive masterpiece.

Imaging being so woke, you identify people by thier skin color and think you're not a racist. How pathetic is this guy?

Can we just stop for a minute and realize that every time a ship is destroyed in Star Wars thousands of people die in the cold black of space while half their body freezes and the other half is burnt to a crisp and their lungs collapse from the change in pressure.

But Joker is violent.

Highly ironic that MovieBob’s review series is called “Escape to the Movies” but he can’t stop trying to relate every movie to the real world.

Here is the thing about the Joker. In most, if not all variations, his backstory is never definitive. He always changes who he once was. So you never can pin down what he is.

He could be a mentally ill man living with his abusive mother, who  goes on to kill a host of a t.v. show who took advantage of him.

Or

He could be a family man who got mixed up with the mafia, and was set up as the fall guy, resulting in his fall into a vat of chemicals. And upon seeing his face, he lost his mind.

Or

He could be a Hitman, who became the head of the mafia, killing a man and a woman, but leaving their son alive, and one day being confronted by a Dark Knight.

Or a million other things. The only common connection is

ONE BAD DAY.

"This is a guy I felt sorry for and want to help, this isn't like a DC villain."

Having villains who aren't just evil mustache twirlers is a bad thing?

"Every Frame A Psycho" is pretty apt while Movie Bob is on screen. If you disagree with his politics, he thinks you should be scientifically considered sub-human.

I just barely realized this about MovieBob and the people like him:

You know those English teachers who believe everything in a text is somehow symbolic of something, or that everything has a deeper meaning when it really doesn’t?

MovieBob, Patrick Willems, Just Write, and all those other critics are the film equivalent to that

Black women are literally the only postive influence on Arthur in this movie. His two social workers from the begining and the ending as well as his imagined love interested are all black women. Are they effective? Certainly not, but they are the only things acting on arthur positively, all the other characters are negative influences on him; his mother, murray, wayne, his friends, etc.

The part in TYT's video where the guy questions the probability of Arthur being assaulted twice in a short frame of time reminded me of Tsutomu Yamaguchi's story. Dude was unlucky enough to be on the site for both Hiroshima and Nagasaki's atomic bombings. He survived both and lived well into old age.
But no, a guy dressed as a clown who laughs uncontrollably at tugs and drunken assholes can't be a victim of assault twice. "That's unrealistic". Ffs...

I would never want to use the term triggered but that part where this guy claimed that no one in real life suffers from the same problems as the Joker was the closest I've ever been to being triggered. I'm a real person and I suffer from plenty of the same problems. I have social anxiety, clinical depression and hell, I even suffered from Tourette Syndrome back in my teenage years. Luckily I was one of the lucky ones that grew out of it but I was bullied relentlessly during the time that I had it and that caused me to be very socially repressed and I'm still suffering from the fallout of that experience at age 30. I'm not saying that I would ever turn to a life of crime because I'm angry at the world but marginalizing people with these problems is the reason some of them end up snapping and doing something terrible because no one gives a shit about them. This movie made me cry multiple times because I felt so much empathy for what Joker was going through because I understand exactly how most of that feels. It's a horrible place to be and it's hard to claw your way out of it without help. If you have problems like that please get help and don't listen to these idiots that tell you it's all in your head and that you should just smile more because that fixes everything if you just "cheer up"

"He's not the hero.
He's the protagonist." -Rags

Yes, exactly !

A portrayal of a disturbed man, sinking ever soo slowly into his own delusions and fantasies in a desperate bid to just be loved and appreciated
reviewers: But how is he gonna fight Batman?!
me:.....

I like how floored Mauler was with Lord Doomcock's interpretation of Arthur's descent. He can me most eloquent and thoughtful when he isn't boiling over with rage and it's nice to see him talk about things he likes from time to time just for that.

"He's the straight white man telling women to smile more"
Joker is the Captain Marvel villain?
