I’ve just Waxoiled my daughter’s (2002) rusty Suzuki Carry camper. The reason I chose Waxoil was that the very thought of having to do this all over again a year later with Lanoguard was too horrible to contemplate!! Once was more than enough for me!
This all looks great just after it has been covered, but what about after doing some offroading in the rain and the mud? No-one seems to have done a proper "after" test. Shiny and new when sprayed.
Lanoguard is the best product out there and it is a product to reapply a light mist coat every year. You are correct about it being a lubricant as well, as the base ingredient is wool wax or lanolin, which is a natural grease and semi - dries to a greasy firm coat. Salt resistant and self healing for light abrasion damage.
I have lots of Jeeps, it does not look like a body off full resto. When the body is off the frame can be brished and chassis black applied. But a nice looking CJ and the Dauntless engine is the one to have.
This product sounds to me a lot like Fluid Film they use it a lot in America and Canada I was going to get some but its not cheap in the UK I ended up using dinitrol brown its fairly transparent on my Jeep WJ it seems to do the job.
For what my experience is worth. I used Lanoguard on my Ranger that had like surface rust.
I didn't like how the 'clear' left the brown of the rust on display - I asked Lanoguard if they had black version, the answer was "no, mix in some liquid shoe polish". To make it black enough the shoe polish diluted the Lanoguard to the point it dribbled out of the spray trigger and dripped on the floor, not a success.
A year later I have more surface rust and it's looking not looking good. I need to apply a coating again. I will use black Waxoyl.
So several years on has has the Lanoguard faired compared to the Waxoyl? Have you heard of or used Morris Lubricants Ankor Wax Preservative Fluid? this dries to a non sticky surface.
