What game should I break down next — Ready or Not, Tarkov, Ground Branch, or Arma?

Hey mate, glad that you made the choice to use our video! Glad to be featured, just want to say that a lot of the things we do kind of end up being done within the confines of the games. We know that a lot of things we could do differently but with Ready or Not it is a tactical SWAT sim style game. Since we can't actually see with peripheral vision, hear each other, feel the bump/squeeze, we have to make a lot of sacrifices for the content. But thank you again, would love to chat with you sometime for real though.

In this game, you roleplay police officers. This is not a military mission. So the rules are you have to give them an opportunity to surrender first. The game deducts points if you breach and start shooting targets. the game penalizes you for shooting first, unless they were actively first engaging you. So the player in the first scene was playing this game correctly, by not shooting an flashbanged enemy.

The whole non-lethal thing is pretty funny. Basically to get S rank (The best) on a mission, you have to have 100% arrest rate no kills. On some missions/scenarios, it does make sense, but in many of the mission if feels like complete nonsense. Active heavily armed shooters with vests currently slaughtering people inside a nightclub ? Game "No you must pepperball and arrest them or you lose points."

The wedges are to wedge the doors closed. The ai in ready or not is smart they’ll bust through doors, and even flank you if you come into contact with them.

The reason they didn't clear the other stalls in the bathroom, is because the game didn't model those stalls to open at all. they physically cannot open those stalls. The game treats those stalls like brick wall, where no bad guy ever spawns, nor can hide in. They ignored those stalls because they all have played this level before, and were already aware that those stalls cannot be opened, nor do they ever pose a threat for that particular level.

These guys are pretty legit and are partly what got me into this game. I’ve seen a lot of their vids and they explain in one that they over-communicate because they are in a video game and the senses are more limited. Whereas in real life you can “feel” your teammates around you.

The things like “body on the deck” is cause he’s telling the dude to secure the gun/evidence and body.
Being that this is more of a SWAT simulator it’s required for scoring in the game.

You can choose to do it later, but many players if you are in relative safety in the game choose to do it as they go, A cause it’s annoying to go back and find it all later, B for time, as the time it takes you to complete also factors in your score/grade at the end of each mission.

Wedging is a tactic in Ready or Not to compartmentalize areas and keep them controlled so no one gets in or out. Enemies can’t flank you. I always imagine a ship or something with different areas flooded, dealing with the flood one section at a time and making sure water isn’t spilling from one section to the other. Once an area is cleared, it stays that way. There’s a lot of “eating the elephant one bite at a time” in this game.

this game is really fantastic but there are some things that you were struggling with that don't make much sense.

1. Yes, those are impenetrable wedges that the adversaries absolutely cannot overcome in any way. Only your team can by either removing it with a multitool, or breaching the door with a ram or shotgun for instance.

2. from the perspective of a character in the game, every door is inward-swinging. When that door swung out and the bad guys pushed from it, it was not because the door was built that way, it's because it was the enemy that was on that side of the door that opened it that it opened outward. If in that scenario our SWAT officer opened it, it would have gone in (the hinges are consistent though at least).

3. Bathroom stall doors in this game are fixed and indestructible. I've played this game a lot and I don't think I've ever actually found some inside of a stall, even an open one.

4. Bodies, incapacitated people, and people playing dead (yes they can do that) cannot be moved or dragged whatsoever, but you can tell someone who has surrendered where to move, and you can also pick them up. Again, only if they're alive and compliant.

Also, many of their vocal queues is due to the limitations of playing in a video game where you don't have full spatial awareness of stuff around you and there is no touch ability where you can feel a team member tap you on the shoulder as an example.

14:26 The door was opened by the suspect from the other side. In this game unrealistically door can swing both way depending on which direction you open it from. And since it opened toward the team it means it is opened from the other side.

Mike the AI enemies in this game are very good at flanking. The wedges are to lock down doors so an enemy can’t sneak behind you. They’re just used to shut off avenues of approach.

Hey what’s going on US Marine vet  here. I play this game everyday.. the term wedge is to put that device under to door to stop it from opening if a subject tries to open it. Best way to play it is with someone that has mikes.

Mike's reaction time on the fake surrender is literally frame perfect. He visually tenses up the instant the bad guy reaches.

Okay, so some of the choices might have been influenced by the inventory options of the game.  The wedges prevent bad guys from using the door.  That way they can't sneak around  behind you.  You can only carry so many items.  These could be wedges, flash grenades, they have grenades that launch a bunch of hard rubber balls in every direction and bounce off things pummeling the bad guys.  There is always a trade off.  So, the guy that crossed the hall behind the guy watching the hall, near the start of the game, might have been carrying wedges while the guy watching the hall didn't.  While playing you earn or loose points for various things.  Shooting an unarmed or surrendering bad guy looses you points.  That's why they didn't immediately shoot the guy that appeared to surrender and then pulled a gun.
