Grunge was NEVER about perfection 6:40

The album this is from, Ten is one of my few no skip albums.

"Jeremy" (uncensored video) and PJ's MTV Unplugged session are a must

“While you were sitting home alone at age 13”
One of the most Gen X lines ever. Being home alone was our theme.

This was their debut single and one of the songs off of their Ten album, which does not have a bad song on it and includes my favorite song of theirs, "Black."

The vocals and music you're hearing in this video is taken from the live performance from Aug. 3, 1991, not the studio released version.

"Black" MTV Unplugged is amazing.

The "aesthetic" of Grunge was "whatever".

"Jeremy" the music video (uncensored), "Black" the unplugged MTV version. Both a must

This song and Evenflow both come from the album Ten. There are no bad songs on that album. So good.

Pearl Jam were fucking amazing live back in the 90s. Such a fun show! One thing I really loved about shows back in the day as compared to now is no cell phones! Everyone just present, for that span of time, no performing, no trying to capture for later, just being present.

Black mtv live is a good one 🎉

For fun 90s grunge crowd people watching, check out Nirvana Smells like Teen Spirit music video. The teens in the stands came from the band’s concerts where they passed out “want to be in a music video?” Flyers

Eddie Vedder, such a voice! And you can hear that amazing voice duet with the equally amazing Chris Cornell on Hunger Strike by Temple of The Dog! (That was my daily pitch for this song 🤭)

Back in 1982 when I was a senior at Oceanside high school in North County San Diego.  Eddie Vedder used to work at a full service gas station off of Leucadia Blvd near Carlsbad. A bunch of us girls used to gather together our change and dollars so we could go get our gas pumped by the really cute hot guy who turned out to be Eddie V.! We would do this every weekend and we would take turns paying him just so we could touch his hand! We'd end up giggling with big smiles and just being silly girls. What was really sweet was that he obviously knew what was up and go along with it and would take his time with us and display a little smile.  Wonderful memories! Those were the days! I got to see Pearl Jam twice but unfortunately my last opportunity to see them he went AWOL per boycotting Ticket Masters unreasonable fees (approx. $20 plus fees per ticket! What we would give now to pay those prices!). The local radio station would play Better Man but replace it with "Where is the Vedder Man?!" Does anyone remember that? To be young again, I'm 61 years old now.

Pearl Jam were absolutely huge. The crowd looks normal because they were normal. Your average frat boy absolutely LOVED Pearl Jam.

One of my favorite songs from my youth! We were all SO IN LOVE with Eddie. I’ve said it before, but please react to Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder doing Hunger Strike. They are two of the iconic vocalists from the 90s and also incredibly talented musicians and writers. The Temple of the Dog album was a  tribute album made by musicians of separate bands who never came together again. Eddie just happened to be in the studio when they were recording, before Pearl Jam blew up. He basically ad libbed the lower vocals, and Chris liked it so much they kept it. A couple years later, after PJ was big, the labels realized that they basically had a Soundgarden-PJ collaboration, and the song blew up. I know you’re not a lyrics guy, but the words of this song are one of the elements that woke me up to the evils of capitalism at the tender age of 12 or 13 😅

An absolute must for Pearl Jam is their MTV Unplugged performance of “Black”. It might be interesting for you to compare that performance with the album version. I haven’t seen anyone else do that so far. Eddie did an amazing version of Bob Dylan’s “Masters of War” that’s definitely worth checking out. Also do yourself a favor and check out Alice In Chains “Dirt” album.

Stage diving, crowd surfing and mosh pits originated and flourished  during this era of grunge in the '90's ! Also you should listen to the studio recorded version of this for one of the best guitar solo outros of all time!!! Mike Mcready was on fire and it still gives me chills listening to it same as the first time I heard it played on radio. It's a sad backstory from Eddie too in the song, telling how his mother just callously dropped on him that the person he thought was his father wasn't and his real father has died - ' sorry you didn't see him,  but I'm glad we talked.' just brutal

“Garden” and “release” are my favorites from this album. 👍
