Sonic the hedgehog lives on a planet that makes absolutely no sense. The shape is always changing, sometimes there's people, sometimes there's animals... at one point there was two planets???
However the fact that you absolutely shouldn't try to map it out didn't stop us with Mario's planet and it's not going to stop me now!

HEY!! Thank you so much for the support on this video! We're happy so many of you are enjoying it and we're LOVING all the alternate theories and discussion over placements happening in the comments! (: (Those of you being weird and mean to each other over blue hedgehog planets stop that! Sonic would defo think that's cringe just sayin')

Anyway I did the same thing as the mario map and forgot to like actually make these things downloadable so they're now linked in the description!!

I've been responding to as many comments as I can but I'm eventually gonna run out of steam unfortunately, the amount of support is never-ending and we're so grateful! Please know we do read the comments even if we don't always get to 'em! Thanks once again y'all! (:

The fact Cream is Canadian, Knuckles is tantamount to Peruvian and Sonic was basically chilling in Rio de Janeiro at the start of Sonic Adventure is crazy work ngl

Here’s my two cents, I always seen Angel Island as a moving body, like it will hover over different places during the year, so I always thought that during the death egg saga and a lot of the pre historic times Angel Island was hovering over Westside Island, and after Sonic 3 some of Angel Island crumbled down into Westside Island and formed into it, which is why in Sonic Mania a ship from Oil Ocean could easily drop into Lava Reef, that also explains why in more recent games Angel island is just a forest and Sky Sanctuary. Also also, the reason why I think Angel Island was over Westside Island in the prehistoric period is that Westside Island also has a Hidden Palace or a Master Emerald Shrine. This is just my take tho.

You've probably already gotten comments about this, but GUN's presence in Sonic 06 is absolutely sanctioned (probably because Eggman is a massive and notable threat to the United Federation?)

This isn't shown in the stages, but the hub worlds have multiple GUN soldiers walking around and there's even dialogue where Soleanna citizens and workers for an energy corporation specifically call GUN or ask GUN to be called because a crime has taken place, suggesting they're an acting police force. There's even an instance where a guy says to call GUN because he thinks he saw a ghost, and another where a GUN agent tasks shadow with stopping a theft completely unrelated to Eggman, so they're definitely acting in Soleanna with jurisdiction.

I think the reason Russia in Sonic's world seems to be a land of toys is bc Sonic Team always has the following line of thought:

Toys > Santa Claus > North Pole > Russia

God I can't tell you how much I FUCKING LOVE videos taking a franchise with wildly inconsistent and sometimes contradictory locations, events, and lore, and cobbling it all together. It's just such silly fun, putting all the pieces together and seeing what it looks like, and is so open to dozens of interpretations!

Honestly the Russia observation is both the funniest and most interesting part of this video to me, it's so amusing that I hope they keep doing it despite it definitively just being some kind of weird coincidence

I think there is one detail that many people overlook, South Island is not a static place on the map, just as the Master Emerald floats, South Island doesn't register on the map because it's drifting aimlessly across the ocean, so its appearance in SA2 or Sonic Superstars isn't far-fetched, it's always moving.

one small thing that if this was an in world map I'd understand why but angel island and potentially south island are moving islands and so angel island drifts its not always by the mystic ruins and south islands drifts along the southern ocean

edit: btw sky canyon is angel island hence why its a floating land mass in advance 2

Here's a fun fact

In Shadow the Hedgehog, Japan is referenced by name at the very end, as the UF president is apparently about to leave for "tea time with the prime minister of Japan" (from memory, not necessarily verbatim)

Do with this information what you will, it doesn't change what brought up in the video but is just neat.

Huh, you know. Eggman did became a toy maker when he lost his memory in the comics. And the name Robotnik was a take on a Russian name. It is entirely possible that Eggman is Russian in someway, or at least has family there.

Only issue I can think of is that TailsTube videos state that humans live on "the continents" while animal people live on "the islands." I don't know if that's just a general rule of thumb or what, but it could chafe against your idea of animal people living in Canada.

Also, I always thought GUN's real world equivalent would be a UN Peacekeeping force, not the US military. It's called Guardian Units Of Nations. Plural. As in, multiple nations. I guess the Mobius version of the UN has way more power than our own actual UN does.

Just a few nitpicks, though. Very solid video with sensible choices.

18:20 death ruins was pretty clearly stated to be the ruins of prison island after it blew up so it would be in the prison island area.

I've always thought that GUN is supposed to be an international military, not specifically the UF military, because the name implies it serves more than one nation. This is canon in the movie universe, where they're shown to be operating in the US, UK, and Japan at minimum, and i think it works the same in the games.
