"It was in tune when I bought it...."

Priceless.

Among Telecaster players, Danny is a household name. Far from being underrated, he's revered. Love his playing.

almost makes me wanna cry when i watch this, as good as he was he shouldve ruled the earth,we need this kind of music and the kind of musician he was,
honest music from honest musicians,RIP Danny

massive talent, sorely missed. the countless guitarist he has influenced but still relegated to the unknown to most younger players of today.

Loves how he so effortlessly goes from echo to if it fails echo; starts double pickin'. Damn, he was truly the master of that type of playing. Danny, that style can be used for it all sir!

Play these clips over and over and enjoy them more each time - Danny was not  only technically superb, musically brilliant and a great teacher but a really nice guy - no pretention. A "regular guy" as I believe the US term goes. Not an atom of the charlatan in him, His premature death was not only a loss to guitarists everywhere and  music in general but to the human race.

"Suppose your echoe gadget goes on the blink.  Well then you double pick all this stuff." Priceless!

Danny is admired and respected by everybody who,s heard his jawdroppin playing  even the more famous and lesser guitar gods of today who look at him with envy

@zthetha: You are so right.. Danny was just a regular guy who happened to be a genius on guitar. He liked hot-rodding cars as much as anything, and probably would have been just as happy wrenching on '57 Chevys as anything music related. I sure am sorry Danny didn't reach out to others when he was down in the dumps, instead of taking his own life. Maybe that way, he'd have know how much people cared about him. The music business is a tough life, and Danny was just one more casualty.

R.I.P. Danny Gatton!
after i had purchased my first electric guitar(a butterscotch Telecaster)i was searching for instructions on how to learn to play a wide range of different guitarstyles and found the hotlicks videos with Danny...what a revealation!i was stunned and still am,what this giant of a guitar player was able to teach me even on video. He was not only one of the greatest players i've ever heard, but also a very good instructor,as we can see here for example. What a loss!

Danny Gatton hands down is my favorite tele player! Thanks for the legacy you left us Danny!

My face hurts from the huge smile I managed to maintain for 5 minutes and 17 seconds! RIP and God Bless you Danny!

WOW!
Can't thank you enough 4engle for posting all these Gatton clips.
I'm going to be busy for the next few weeks :)

As good a teacher as he was a player. RIP.

It's what Danny used to attach his 'magic dingus box' to. The box contained switches to operate his leslie cab, echoplex and phaser effects. He removed it when people assumed he was all about the effects and tricks. Really, as we now know, he had the magic in his hands!

Danny Gatton guitar GOD.....R.I.P.

These Danny Gatton vids are a goldmine! Thanks again...you're the man!

I have more respect to give to Danny Gatton than almost any other musician. Thankfully, there are quite a few more, both past and present, in his orbit.

What an amazing  talent!  He played with such taste and his phrasing is to this day in my humble opinion, untouchable.  It has always been very hard for me to except the fact the he is not with us anymore and of course the heart breaking reason why. I've always wished that had I been blessed to meet the man when he was alive, that I could have said something, anything to make him realize his own slef worth as a human being.  God bless him and his family.  Peace.

Im that guy playing rockabilly out there!   Thanks Danny !
