Ever wondered how horror game enemies behave when you're not looking? In this video, we go behind the scenes of Amnesia: The Bunker to uncover how the terrifying Beast works off-camera.
Following our deep dives into stalker NPCs like Jack Baker from the Resident Evil series and the Alien from Alien: Isolation, we're now exploring how the Beast moves through the bunker and what really happens when it slips into the shadows. Spoiler: it’s way more active than you think…

It’s kind of terrifying to think technically the beast is literally there with you in the tunnels even when you don’t see it and it’s supposed to be in the tunnels, and might even clip through you without you ever knowing.

The dead solider in the locker room was probably set up as a subtle event where you’d see it intact before then return and see it mangled after the beast had gotten to it. Probably scrapped because few people noticed and there was more important stuff happening there.

I had no idea that the Beast actually moved through the map while "in the vents", I expected it to simply teleport. That's really cool!

The Bunker is really cool because it uses the setting of a war in a horror context instead of a bombastic shooter.
It’s so creative and it makes a lot of sense

I've always wished this game was more mainstream than it was. Not only was it an incredible horror game in general, but the system with the generator and the guns is something i really really wish i could have seen more of. The way that the guns were a reliable way to defend yourself, but were insanely limited in their ammo was the perfect balance where you could be confident enough to make mistakes but still weary of running out of ammo and no longer having that privilege. The way they handled also felt really nice and immersive, making me wish there was more like it all the more.

Someting i dont think anyone has said is when you fire a gun outside, your ears dont ring. But when you fire inside, your ears will ring. A nice detail.

Henry must be related to Ethan. Maybe being headless runs in the family

You know something about how the beast is actually the same model genuinely following you from area to area is extremely terrifying, and only makes this game’s atmosphere scarier

The number 33 is probably the unit he is in, I could only find the 33rd Infantry Division for the French army under the 17th Army Corps.

As I watch this video, my dog is getting low to the floor and crawling under the bed cus some loud noise outside scared her (thunder or fireworks). I hear her starting to come out, I turn around and just see her paws first as she tries to pull herself out from under the bed (she always squeezes herself into the most confined part) and I look back at myu screen and see the beast coming out of it's crawl hole.
Fun timing.

"Wherever you go the same Beast is still coming" Is pretty much expected and terrifying at the same time

@Remora_7 1 year ago

Knowing that its actually movinig around and those sounds arent just for effect made it instantly 10,000 times scarier for me. I love video games

The way the beast's behavior is done is amazing, keeps tension constant throughout the game. And I love that the behavior can be altered too for a custom gamemode.

This is my first time learning how the Beast works when traveling around the map! Everyone mentioned what It DOES do so, but invisible model? honestly very smart. Amnesia devs never disappoint with roaming enemies

@mattwoo556 1 year ago

love the new narrative style to the video rather than just free camera roaming around to show us

@Bradey_Kim 1 year ago

6:39 This is incredible. They really made the monster to move but invisible. I thought those effects (sounds, dusts) were just things to show to the players.

There's something extra horrifying about knowing a stalking enemy is the same one at all times, whether it's a horror game or not. It's like you are truly being hunted by the lines of code themselves, that specific set of programming, an entity unto itself given "birth" by its programmer.

i like how the creature bounces around the map like a logo on a TV screensaver.

10:05 that body asset is used when burning the original body in the same place, it just swaps out after being burned.

7:31 Thank you for actually showing the beast moving while in the walls. Every other video shows just grids and explain (poorly) how it works. Also.... 8:08 now when i play the game, when the beast is roaming in the walls.. i'll envision this. Also, 10:00 I think the one in the ground spawns when you burn the original (the top most one) corpse. The second one replaces it (notice how it looks more burned)
