Amnesia: The Bunker's story is kicked off by an innocent prank gone wrong, the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand

Henri truly is the least guilty of all the amnesia protagonists but he was arguably doomed from the outset. Yes Lambert and the otherworldly shit certainly changed his fate but this is war. And in war no one wins. Even the victor will face insurmountable loss and for the soldiers on the battlefield even winning a battle often comes at steep personal costs. The fact that this game at multiple points reminds you that even if you escape lambert temporarily you cannot escape the battlefield is truly amazing. For as tough as he became, Lambert could be stalled, hurt, killed even. War, on the other has, leaves to its participants no such graces. At least not to the soldiers.

Just like with what happened to Tasi in Rebirth, I think that the nastiest part of the Bunker is that it honestly didn't matter in the long run what Henri did or didn't do. All the circumstantial evidence implies that someone in the area was going to stumble across the exposed part of the tunnels and the tainted water EVENTUALLY. Doesn't matter if it was a madman in the tunnels drinking it in his delirium, a wounded Lambert being tended to by his guilt-ridden friend, or even an unwitting random soldier on patrol deciding to top off his canteen with it before he heads back to the bunker. Someone was always going to find it, and they would more than likely have drank it because it's the Great War, baby. Everything's all gone to shit and at least the stuff in that crater looks cleaner than the muddy water in the trenches.

Technically true: the best kind of true.

Im so glad someone else decidedly not Scottish has started referring to generator as “Jenny” after still wakes the deep. Same with “Leckie”

Sleep well, Lambert.

✨️elevated rats✨️

I really love that you put yourself in the protagonist s shoes. It makes it 10 times better

Good to see tiny box tim is all grown up and fleshy and terrifying

I caught that Lemon Demon reference like Lambert caught his bunny before you blew him up

genuinely do not understand how you don't have more subs. your essays are well-written, the storytelling throughout the video threads points together so well, and the editing is CRISP. the intro alone had me hyped for the next hour lol

my sharpshooter henri with an entire bunker's armory shoved up his ass is DOMING those german soldiers immediately no questions asked. give me a post-ending continuation dlc and it's one bullet one kill all the way back home. no way he lived through allat to unceremoniously die

I am sure there are arguments about Henri’s guilt but honesty I don’t beleive he should be held responsible for any of these actions. Yes, he cheated, which was a bit cowardly, but it’s war and these are typically young boys, barley men. War is terrifying. People don’t always make the best choices under pressure like that.  The rest of the consequences were an accident. And as you said, he went out to get Lambert! He gave him water to help! How was he supposed to know the water was a magical magical concoction of evilness?

I see his actions most similarly to deciding to climb the stairs with your hands full and accidently dropping what you are holding.  Yes, it would have been smarter to take a second trip up the stairs. Maybe you could have seen this as a possible outcome. But you thought it would be fine. There was no ill intention. It was a mistake.

Except in Henri’s case he tripped up the stairs and goes to pick up and fix what he dropped and the whole house exploded as a result.

One of my most immersed moments in horror gaming came from this game, when I heard the monster roaring and beginning to chase, and my brain made the decision to throw a grenade at a door just to run. Normally I would think about "Oh okay i use X resource to escape Y situation" but I was so terrified I didn't even consider the cost or mechanics; I wanted OUT.

Rest in peace Lambert.

lemon demon reference earned an instant sub
