Him putting his hand in the fire is wild, that’s pretty crazy

Several Orthodox clergy involved in the Holy Fire ceremony have testified that the flame is lit naturally from an oil lamp inside the Holy Sepulcher, rather than miraculously descending from heaven. Metropolitan Cornelius, who personally brought out the Holy Fire in 2001, said there was no supernatural lighting, while sacristan Isidoros explicitly said, “No, of course it’s not a miracle.” Their testimonies indicate that the miraculous interpretation is a religious tradition surrounding the ceremony, rather than a claim that the clergy themselves believe a supernatural flame physically appears. So either this priest is lying or he doesn't know.

I saw a similar  miracle at a Resurrection service in Boston. A woman was standing beside me on the outside steps of the church with a bundle of candles that she said had been sent to her by a friend from Jerusalem and that they had been obtained at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. At this service the tradition is to open the closed doors and at this moment to announce that Christ is Risen and to pass the light of the Resurrection symbolized by candles that everyone holds from the priest's first lit candle at the doors in daisy chain fashion. The woman standing next to me tried to light her Holy Land candles but her lighting them resulted in the flame being immediately snuffed out by the wind. Everybody's candles were being snuffed out. But... the woman beside me still held her "imported" candles high, yet not burning. Not a moment later, when "Christ is Risen" was announced by the priest her bundle of candles all burst into a brightly burning torch, as if a blow torch had been applied to it. Nobody else's candles could be relit until they were safely out of the wind and inside the church. It was humbling to think about and later to recall.

Pray for me, my faith has been dwindling like a candle wick. I've been doing research recently concenring the claims of Christianity for Apologetics and I sometimes gain alot of anxiety having to research the arguments of Atheists and skeptics. I believe Orthodox Christianity and the Holy fire, but I'm weak and need help from God. May I shine brightly like the Holy fire! ☦️🔥

If you believe bible is truth. Storys in bible is full of historical events that is hard to explain and completely understand using human logic. Thats why we call that a miracle.

I've been to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (Church of the Resurrection), though not at Pascha. I would love to go back someday. It is beautiful. And I would be able to make more sense of some of the things I saw now that I know more about Orthodoxy.

I wasn't able to approach the tomb, because it was so crowded. But I did get to touch the stone where Jesus was crucified.

Sadly it was shown on the Greek news that the fire is already lit inside by normal means first, and 2 Greek sacristans admitted to it on camera, and a Greek journalist wrote a book on it

So the fire's first lighting is a not a miracle, but maybe with people's belief and prayer it doesn't burn them at first

One of the things that stuck out to me when converting a few years ago. My extended Pentecostal family wanted to say it was made up and I mentioned how there are many centuries of eyewitness accounts and now videos. I reminded them that there were eyewitness accounts of everything Christ did but there are those even today who try to deny it.

I saw the writer Rod Dreher give a lecture on his book, "Living in Wonder." He also experienced the Holy Fire, and his hand remained unburnt for several minutes. He even did an experiment where he bought the candles they sell outside the sephulcre, brought them home and tried passing his hand through the flame. He couldn't do it. Fascinating!

I was there and I showed the miracle and didn’t burn me neither my wife. This happened first a week before in the 2 candles front of the entrance and second time Holy Saturday in the afternoon. I was there 2018 and was my best experience of my life. The Holy Fire doesn’t bun you for some minutes your hair your clothes your skin. Is amazing.

Glory to God. That is so amazing. The ending of Fr. Corneliu's story had my wife and me on the edge of our seats.

An important point that few people know. Protopriest Gennady Zaridze, Chairman of the Union of Orthodox Scientists, measured the temperature of the Holy Fire. It turned out to be 42 degrees Celsius. No substance (solid) burns at such a temperature under normal conditions. And the Holy Fire descends only upon an Orthodox Patriarch. Perhaps it's worth thinking about why?
