Huge miss that they didn't hand a poor person a Pepsi after they landed. I think that would have turned the whole thing around.

Women in space almost makes you forget that NASA is being defunded

Its crazy how many rich ppl confuse buying something with doing/making something

If they're astronauts after 11 minutes in space, I'm a gynaecologist

The clip where Katy Perry is like "I've always been interested in Astrophysics and Astronomy and Astrology" felt like biting a lemon

I wouldn't even dignify them with the title of "tourist." If you spend eleven minutes in Milan Malpensa Airport for a connecting flight you have not meaningfully visited Italy.

36:30 Also, to add another layer of profound irony and sadness to this clip; Shatner lost his dear wife Nerine Kidd to alcohol and after her passing, became a lifelong advocate against alcoholism, making speeches regularly on the topic and donating to charities that help those in recovery. So there's extra symbolism in him, while crying from grief, being silenced and sprayed with champagne. 😰

They weren't even "crew," they were passengers.  It's like, whenever I take the metro, I don't go on social media to tell everyone about how I got to be a railway engineer.

I vote we call space tourists cashtronauts

i don't think rich people going to space is that big of a problem. the actual problem is that they come back.

"any women can be an astronaut if she has access to billions of dollars!!" amazing. inspirational.

This is literally the kind of stunt they would pull in the 50s. "Look at these dames taking a trip to space! Looking good, ladies! And on landing, not even a hair out of place.

Blue Origin: Spaceflight so comfortable even a woman can do it!"

They're saying the quiet part in modern English, but just think how the same racist sexist men would say these things 60 or 70 years ago and marvel at how awful these gremlins are

They didn't go to space, they went to the mesosphere for 11 minutes.

70 years ago a dog went further in space than they did.

Honestly, in this day and age, I respect the “former McDonald’s crew member” more as working class clout.

Katy Perry of "Is maths related to science?" lording this over ACTUAL women in STEM, who are criticising her actions, is INSANE

Lady in STEM here, I 100% agree with everything you said. Having to watch as they try to spoon-feed us some kind of bullshit fake empowerment as they strip away any of our actual avenues of empowerment is a special kind of rage that I don't think anyone outside of a marginalized group can truly understand.

Funny correction: the FLIGHT (ignition to capsule touchdown) was ~11 minutes, but they were only in space (above 100km) for ~1 minute 9 seconds.

Can we normalise calling space tourists "payload" or "ballast" or "non-working mass"?

I think the best summary I've read so far is, 'Imagine if you were married to Russell Brand and that's NOT the most embarrassing thing you've ever done.'

The world needs a slang term for rich people pretending to accomplish things.

I feel like this will become an increasingly prevalent phenomenon as they hoover up the world's capital and box the rest of us into renter existences where only a small percentage of people will be able to afford to go out and do things.
