The Takegawa engine, which I've been modifying little by little, is finally nearing its end.
I'll be using a 1.2mm gasket, aiming for a 10.2:1 ratio based on my calculations.
Of course, I want to measure the compression pressure and compare it to the Loncin 125's.
But, I'm still worried about the SCUT piston.
The Loncin had a sturdy piston, but the Takegawa SCUT piston only has one ring.
And the skirt is a rather revealing mini-skirt, too.
The 4-valve design is also an unknown quantity.
I'm also concerned about the cam overlap.
So, first, I want to quickly finish the engine and mount it in the frame.
And then I want to experience how it runs in its naturally aspirated state.
How much power will it have lost? I'm guessing about a 2 horsepower drop.
The compression ratio is part of compression ratio × combustion efficiency × ignition timing × volumetric efficiency, so even if only the compression ratio drops, if the other factors remain the same, I don't think it will be as underpowered as I expect.
So, I'll do my best to assemble it 😊
