This 2000 Ducati 748 is one of the roughest Ducati projects I’ve taken on — and this is where the rebuild begins.
I found this Ducati 748 after it had been sitting for years, and calling it a “barn find” might be generous. The bike is in seriously rough shape, with years of neglect, corrosion, grime, and plenty of unknown problems waiting to be uncovered.
In this first episode of the Ducati 748 rebuild and restoration series, I’m tearing into the bike to see just how bad it really is and figuring out what it will take to bring this classic Ducati sportbike back to life.
The goal is to restore this 2000 Ducati 748 while keeping the character and appearance of the original bike. Before we can get anywhere near riding it, though, there’s a LOT of work ahead.
