Standing ovation to Terry Williams.

@HowardSmith-e2v 9 months ago

The drummer was Terry Williams. His dad was in the audience, and Terry played like a maniac for his dad.

40 years later, this continues to be one of the greatest live albums of all time.

You are now a fully-fledged Dire Straits addict! Welcome to the club! You are a joy to watch!

The drummer is Terry Williams. Retired now and owns a pub somewhere, but an absolute legend

Even as an old man, Mark Knopfler is insanely talented. He no longer has to show off, it's pure art.

@tauric1713 11 months ago

this is probably the greatest live performance of all time

@merrilyn-q1w 11 months ago

The audience was clapping because their phones hadn't been invented yet. Applause adds a lot!!

@johnathanstruble1064 11 months ago

They took the drum kit off stage, on a stretcher, in critical condition after the performance. Thankfully it pulled through! ❤😂

I have been playing for 50+ years. When I hear mark play I feel like breaking up all my guitars to pieces and never play again. ❤from a 72 year old man from London

I am 70 years old and I still get the chills.

As a 50-year-old who’s had Dire Straits as one of my favorite bands for nearly 40 years, I love seeing younger people discover them. It genuinely moves me. And this recording, Alchemy Live, is definitely one of my all-time favorites.

@blaydonstormchild1911 11 months ago

What I love in addition to the excellent musicianship is the fact that they are so obviously enjoying the hell out of being up there.

@ErrrorWayz 10 months ago

In 88 Eric Clapton agreed to be Mark's support guitar. There's whole concert. It's insane.

@ianroutledge1611 11 months ago

The way Mark smiles at the end, like, yeah that was good wasn't it 😉😉

@TheRadicalBehaviorist 10 months ago

I can never call a band the best. The greatest bands had the greatest musicians. And this is a masterclass of musicianship.

@Easy_Cure 4 months ago

I've listened to this live version for 35+ years, and I'm still shaking my head when listening to it, like you do :D

@2299jsimon 11 months ago

One of the few bands who look as if they're just having a good time... it's obvious that they really enjoy playing for their fans.
