0:44 Look a Royal Mail train line workers as stated already, more worried by seaspray than a 125 and the proper old original Dawlish seawall. Not the brutal bulk of the butt-ugly new one, but the historic two function affair: stops your garden getting wet and provides Neptune's own version of a train washing facility.
Can't beat being a child onboard on a stormy day as the waves slap against the carriage's window against which your nose is faithfully pressed!

Those track workers examing the track, and getting soaked by the waves - better them than me!

Fantastic video of how rough it could be along the sea wall. I feel for the two track guys - soaked to the skin! Yet even then, with all that pounding and their checks, nothing was done until the whole thing collapsed a few years later!

I wonder did they have to look after the trains using this stretch extra specially? In terms of washing them. When I lived in South Devon right beside the sea, in the 90s I didn’t wash my car for about a year and I discovered/learned that the salt water virtually dissolved the bodywork 😂🙈

Great memories. The Paddington bound hst sets had 2 firsts and the what is now cross country sets only one. Thats how you can tell them apart. The GWR sets were also strengthened to 8 mark 3s at some point too, XC was always 7.

0:11 them lads really were more worried about the sea than a train bearing down on them lol is it the remastering that makes the left track look so uneven around 1:28?
