The algorithm doesn't never die. It just functionally never dies. If we've realized that the mayor, the sheriff, judicial and now IT are not what they appear to be, why would the algorithm be any different?

I'm impressed that you were able to get so many details correct in your theories without having read the books. There's a very big detail that you're not seeing that you'll find in Episode 4 according to an interview with Graham Yost (The showrunner) and once you get that information I think a lot of the pieces and holes that you have will fall into place. I would also like to point out that the Algorithm only disclosed that six Silos have been successfully reset. It did not, however, disclose how many had been safeguarded. It may not seem so, but we can consider Silo 17 as successfully safeguarded. While they did cap the pipe that would let the poison gas in, the mechanism that controls The Safeguard apparently has at least a couple of options. The population pretty much all died, and nobody who exited through the airlock made it into the camera shots visible to Silos 18, 16, 15 or 14. This is information that the Algorithm can or does reveal as Bernard knew that Juliette walked towards Silo 17 and made a comment that it had been "dead/silent for years" so why hasn't it given that information (at least on screen) to Camille?

silo 17 remembered pre-fundation world, and I think many others might if they've developed different ways to keep thier societies obedient

I am scared to read the books now to spoiler myself

What if the memory issue means the silos have only been around for a few years, and everyone's memories are false

I have had this theory too that these are experiments and that life is still going on outside of the area surrounding the silos..

it's a silo, but sometimes, its a seelo.

Finding out more about the other silos in season 2 left me thinking that the Silos are studies of rebellion and social unrest. The patterns are periodic and predictable. The causes are always the same. The hidden graffiti in Juliet's silo states that mechanical always gets blamed. Memory  and history fuel people's hopes about the possibilty of resistance. Even the cultures are different; like the possibility of a version of Romeo and Juliet where the lovers don't die.

We worship our "phones" and "Forget".  As intended.🤔

I think that the safeguard as gas does not exist at all, it is just an extreme form of control. When the silo wants to kill it will direct a nano gas from silo one. Hence the burner Activation when the door opens. I THINK...

The story of silo proves that history always repeats and people don't learn from it

I expected it to be experiments having not read the books but after learning what happens in the books turns out its just a boring fallout with no wasteland outside the shelters.

The heirarchies also create conflict.

Reminds me of Fallout with the trials

Agreed, experiments!  (FYI: this comment was based on information presented after e10!)
There would be no point in running 50 identical experiments, and slowly culling them one-by-one over the centuries.
It ONLY makes sense if each silo was a different experiment,.. different seed populations, different rules/pacts.
If they ran 50 identical experiments, and were forced to  "safeguard" 42 of them over 350 years, the (half-sentient) denizens of Silo 1 would have long since abondoned their mission as a failure. If just ONE (identical) silo survived the 500 years, it would merely be a random survivor, and no more capable of re-seeding the earth than any of the failed populations. Only by running parallel, different experiments, and finding clear statistical correlations between any groups of similar or identical survivors could silo one draw any conclusion about the validity of the final surviving populations.

There's the concept of years, days, months, and time, and that's not possible without knowing they're living on a planet.

So the twist would be that Daniel Keen builds silos and he is the one who uses the "forget" pills to wipe out the memory of 1st inhabitants. Yes?

It’s odd that he builds them to preserve human history but then makes everyone forget? There is another reason he doesn’t reveal, has to be

“ the founders are dust”

books: “ mwahahahaha”

Throwing in a  sudden "Deux ex machina" plot point (amnesia!) they suddenly begin building the show around seems like they just jumped the shark. Three episodes in to figure out the pills she's taking are affecting her memory? Riiighhhhtoo.
