You can either die a hero or live long enough to become Markiplier

I hadn't noticed how important to his character it is that he's bad at playing the guitar. It means he has to work at it, he has to commit, practice and improve. It reminds me of Mob Psycho 100's story, who chooses similar trials.

What I always found most interesting about the Metro Man/Megamind dynamic is that Metro Man... always knew Megamind wasn't really evil. In fact, Metro Man considered him to be a kind of friend. His little buddy. Megamind's belief that they were enemies was completely one-sided. Metro Man is so powerful that he could have ended their conflicts easily. Instantly. Every time. Yet he chose to play along with the banter and the theater of rivalry. He was humoring Megamind all along.

An interesting narrative choice is the fact that they removed Metro Man's real name, leaving his only identity as "Metro Man."  The original script gave him a name for his civilian identity: Wayne Scott. However, he is never once referred to by this name in the film. This is unlike Megamind, who canonically never had a civilian identity and chose to name himself Megamind. It shows the contrast - Megamind CHOSE to embrace his villain identity, whereas Metro Man was never even given a choice in the first place.

I love that they didnt make metroman come back to stop tighten, and that he stays in his bunker. He deserves it.

Metro Man was a superhero almost 24/7 for years, that would drain anyone. If he had used a secret identity and just took time off he might have been happier in the role.

I mean he got tired of doing it over and over again so you can't blame him

The villain turns into the hero, the nice guy turns into the mean guy, and the perfect man turns imperfect. Cinema

the reason he chose music is cause its something his powers cannot help him with

Another perspective that a lot of people missed, Metroman retired while leaving the city in the hand of Megamind, someone he always believed in (his own words)... he grew up with him, had hundred of fights against him, he knows the guy pretty well, he knows how much he is not the villain he portrays himself to be... and that makes his decision to leave everything behind even easier.

I'm not sure why I'm only realising this now, but can we talk about how genuinely awful the Metro city government, and more specifically the warden are? They realised there's a baby, an alien baby but a baby nonetheless, in their prison and instead of getting it out of there and giving it a chance at a normal life, they keep it there. Like what the heck?

I like the little "Send Help" in the library. Goes to show, that even if Metro Man was Godlike, he still needed help. Help to find himself.

It’s really cool how despite being “mortal enemies” in the eyes of the public, megamind and metroman actually deeply respect each other. Megamind obviously admired him a lot despite their childhood. He genuinely grieved his fake death. He put Metroman on a pedestal to the point that he kept comparing “Tighten” to him the whole movie. He didn’t say it but Megamind was lowkey supportive of MM’s music career. “Granted, he has talent” he says even when the scene was meant to show MM’s “offkey singing”. When MM refused to come back as a hero, he didn’t push further. He just went “aight”. I guess Megamind could relate somehow

I like to think that metroman stayed out of things but he still recognized the stuff happening was his fault to some extent so he didn't intervene but he did go save civilians in danger
(Like when the building is knocked over, anyone inside he could've gotten out) Which explains why there isn't much news about casualties

Something that I really liked is how, when we learn how insane Metro-Mans super-speed is, it really hammers home how he could have easily bodied Mega-Mind any time he felt like it. But he did his part and held back, to keep things 'fair' and put on a fun, dramatic show for the people. He clearly saw Mega-Mind as something more akin to a friend than an actual enemy or rival. It also shows how Titan / Tighten could have been exponentially more dangerous if he had figured out how to use his own presumed super-speed.

4:12 Through their years of rivalry Metroman knows Megamind wouldn’t really kill anyone, so he might as well just rock up his ego a little lol

What I liked about Metroman was that he never considered Megamind as a villain because when Roxanne and Megamind asked him to return he told Megamind that there's a Ying for every Yang implying that he knew if Megamind wanted he can be the hero and how later on he came to support him for the thank you part that was held for Megamind.

Markiplier after he retires from YouTube:

I think the perfect sequel to this movie would just be a re-do of the movie from Metroman's perspective.
Call the movie "Metroman".
Maybe start a few days before, and let us connect with his dreams and personal character, or something.
The end of the movie would be the same, where we meet him in his hideout and he's chilling.
