Jaws is such an iconic suspense film with an amazing score by John Williams.

Most of the younger generation movie reviewers don’t realize that in the 1970’s beer cans were made of steel. So when Quint crushes that can with one hand, it’s quite impressive as that is not an aluminum can that we have today.

Ben Gardner still going strong after 50 years of scaring the be-jesus out of everyone.  That scene was added after filming was completed back east and done in a backyard pool in LA. 😎

Jaws was so terrifying it made the bathtub scary 🦈

Fun fact. Harold Bray is the ONLY USS Indianapolis survivor left today.

Still to this day, one of the greatest of all time.
Even Hooper (Dreyfuss) is stunned into silence at the realization.

Had the pleasure of seeing this at an IMAX theater last summer in the Chicago suburbs (4th of July weekend) for a one time daytime showtime (my only time getting to see it on the big screen).  It was packed (looked to be nearly sold out) and the scares & humor still worked!  Lots of audible reactions (scares & laughs) throughout.  The best was when Brody said "smile you son of a b*tch and shot Jaws"...the majority of the theater erupted in cheers and people clapped when credits rolled.

That 'jump scare' 100% got me the first 100 times I watched Jaws!

32:40  The little ticking noise from Quint's reel may be the best sound effect of the entire film.  Ominous as all Hell ... 😱

I saw this movie, when I was a kid, when it first came out. Ever since then, I'm afraid in any deep water, even lakes.

Jaws iconic theme composed by the legendary John Williams, everything he touches is gold!

My fave scene of this film is where they compare their scars/stories on the boat, great cast!

The Mayor is the real villain.

Steven Spielberg was 26 when they made Jaws and he was seen  as young up and coming director at the time. So many things when horribly wrong throughout the production and Spielberg constantly feared that his career would be ruined either because he’d be fired or the movie would end up being a disaster. Obviously, it worked out in the end. But Spielberg was so traumatized by the making of Jaws that he had nightmares about it for decades. They eventually moved one of the  Orca boats to the Studio Tour at Universal Studios and as part of his Steven’s own therapy, he would sneak into the Orca and cry until his nightmares went away.

You have to realize that we are used to movies like this today.  The monster movies prior to Jaws just weren't very believable or scary.  This movie really started the entire genre and terrified everybody at the time.  And it's crazy that it still holds up 50 years later.

Fun fact: the shark (Bruce) only appears for a total of 4 min throughout the entire film. The body couldn’t operate properly due to the salt water causing it to stall & break down. Hence we don’t see it much until near the end when Quint, Brody, & Hooper are out at sea on the Orca.
