"So far there isn't much boxing" That is because Rocky is a love story.

@Journeyman.71 9 months ago

This is not a boxing movie. It's a character story, a love story, a story about heart and determination.

Rocky is actually a love story with boxing. Such an inspiration to me as someone who is into fitness. I listen to the soundtrack over and over. The fact that Sylvester Stallone wrote, directed and starred in these movies is so inspiring to me because I want to be an author and I want to adapt my books into movies and I want to play my main characters as well.

Fun fact, when rocky talks about how his shorts were painted wrong, that was actually a mistake by the props department and they didnt have the money to change it, so they made it part of the story

The rant scene is one of the best scenes in the film and you spoke and laughed through it

Rocky is "The Notebook" from the 70-80's.

Fun Fact: Cuff and Link are 50 years old and still living with Sly.

Ive always liked how the loan shark is genuinley good to Rocky, and was at the fight cheering him on

20:05 this scene damn near changed my life it taught me that a lot of people only value u when they see you have some type of motion and treat u like garbage throughout your journey to get there this scene brought me to tears when I first seen it as an adult😂

@SubzeroBlack68 9 months ago

The Loan Shark Tony Gazzo was the realist bro in the film. Always gave Rocky respect and lent him money with no strings attached, even shows up to the fights with full support just wanting him to succeed with no ulterior motives.

The scene where he goes down and gets back up and apollo is like are you joking me with just his expression, is still one of the best scenes I've ever seen ❤

“I love the zoo” 😂 completely missing why it was recommended though

25:57 Butkus was Stallone’s RL dog. He sold him when he was broke and couldn’t take care of him, but when he sold the script for Rocky, bought Butkus back. He also still has the turtles Cuff and Link, they’re over 50 years old now.

Rocky is one of my favorite franchises. And the Creed movies were a pleasant surprise

All these comments and only one mentioning Burgess Metedith as the Penguin. His acting was a masterclass. This won 3 Oscars in 1977. People forget that.

"It's not sports movie it's a drama!" - Sylvester Stallone

This movie is one of the all time greats. There are so many memorable scenes and themes in Rocky, but there is one that is so often missed. It's the long hallway shot right before and after Paulie throws the turkey out the window. In the living room on a table there is a picture of Paulie in a Naval uniform meaning he was once a man of discipline and honor reflecting on the man he is now. It's sad to think how he got there. The actor Burt Young (Paulie) did serve in the Marine Corp so the picture used is mostly likely real

the most interesting trivia i know is that stallone had written the script, and when this studio loved it and wanted to buy it from him. his deal was that as long as he got to play Rocky. and they didn't want him to. they wanted bigger stars. he said they kept offering him more and more money just for the script, and that he almost caved at one point, because it was so much money. but finially the studio caved and let him play rocky, and actually got paid less as an actor than the offer he was getting for the script... i think good for him for sticking up for himself and standing his ground to play Rocky

The confrontation with Mickey in Rocky's apartment is what makes this movie for me; Mickey is trying to help Rocky regretting the years he neglected and mistreated him remembering all the pain and suffering from having no one to guide and protect him.
Then Rocky vents all his frustration and anger after spending years scraping by, getting beaten in boxing and in life.
And Rocky regrets taking it all out on Mickey and runs after him only to startle him making him think he's about to be hit.
