Holden & Jen Hardman

Somehow, two movie lovers made it this far in life without ever seeing A Knight's Tale — and we finally fixed that.

Heath Ledger. Queen blasting in medieval times. A peasant with a dream and absolutely zero chill. We went in blind and came out completely in love with this movie.

Watch our fully unfiltered first-time reactions as we experience one of the most beloved crowd-pleasers of the early 2000s together — no spoilers, no prior knowledge, just two people discovering something special at the same time.

Skipping over one of the most emotional father and son reunions in all of cinema is criminal!!!

Skipping over the entire reuniting with his father scene made me cry almost as much as the scene itself

Nobody ever notices that Roland is describing the TENT as his tunic as that is what he is going make it out of.

A Knight's Tale is phenomenal, and it's a crime it didn't do well in the box office.

The sugar thing was to make a fake fist at the end of the spear that looked like metal but was actually fragile and guaranteed to shatter thus exposing the tip inside.

Absolutely shocked you leave out the scene with William and his father embracing. Never seen anyone do that in there edit when the movie shows some true heart and get grown men like myself to tear up. Took some real guts to cut it on the editing floor

Alan Tudyk said recently on his podcast with actor/friend Nathan Fillion "Once We Were Spacemen" that he adlibbed the threat "Your entrails will become extrails" during his audition, and he believes it's the reason he got the part and they kept it for the movie.

Fun fact: Paul Bettany's character is meant to be Geoffrey Chaucer, of "The Canterbury Tales"

EDIT: And you didn't watch the post-credit scene!!!

Alan Tudyk and Paul Bettany are absolutely hilarious in this.

The director used We Will Rock You at the start of the first joust as an allegory for what the music of the period would sound like to those attending the joust, in a sense saying that this trumpet playing would get the crowd hyped for the match just like Queen would for a modern audience.

"this is my word and as such is beyond contestation" is one of my favorite line Deliveries in Cinema. It's definitely I'm totally making this up but I'm the Prince and I can do what I want 😂

R.I.P Heath Ledger.

Gone, but not forgotten.

"It's called a Lance...Hello!" One of my favorite lines in the movie😆

The "boot blackened sugar" that Jen was confused by was confused by is actually the ingredients they used to hide the pointed lance tip that stabbed William. Boot blackened and congealed sugar are what disguised the false lance tip.

This is my favourite movie of all time. The chemistry behind the cast of this movie is insane. Due to the way it was filmed all the cast members got really close.

I absolutely love this movie. I've watched it so many times. It's funny but it's got so much heart. I saw this movie in theaters in 2001 and my parents bought it on dvd as soon as it came out and STILL the dad stuff still makes me tear up. Such a good movie!

Never realized before, how STACKED the main cast was

The character that Paul Bettany plays is named Geoffrey Chaucer. This is an Easter egg because that's the name of the author or the original story titled A Knights Tale. Which is why at the end of the movie he says "maybe I'll write a book about it"
