he never "crashed out" on drugs.  the band never broke up,  they had just been on tour right before Live Aid.  There is alot that the movie got wrong.

The movie is more fiction than fact. Freddie never crashed out from drugs. Best Frontman.

The movie is not a documentary. It is inaccurate about a lot of things. The timeline is wildly inaccurate. The band never broke up. Freddie didn't act like he was portrayed. Roger the drummer actually started a solo career as a side thing before anyone else in the band did. They all had different tastes in music so their solo stuff was good for them so they could do the kind of stuff that wouldn't fit within Queen.

The movie, while entertaining, actually comes off as a hit piece on Freddie.

The movie suggests that Freddie was a self-centered diva who broke up the band. Roger and Brian made their own solo albums before Freddie even started his. And it didn't affect the band in any way. They didn't have to worry about not playing together for years because The Works Tour ended on 15 May 1985 (Live Aid in July '85). Freddie didn't give a speech about his illness before Live Aid, although it was pretty much word for word what he told the band in the late 80's. (He wasn't diagnosed until '87). And Freddie certainly didn't take Jim Hutton (a hairdresser found in a nightclub, not a waiter) to be introduced to his parents just before the concert. (Freddie's parents were Zoroastrians, a faith that generally does not accept homosexuality, which likely influenced his decision to keep his personal life private from them.)
They did the Magic tour in '86 (the film suggests that Live Aid was the last show), and it was the band's biggest and last tour with Freddie. It was a 26-concert tour of Europe in support of the A Kind of Magic album, including two sold-out shows at London's Wembley Stadium and a final show at Knebworth (9 august 1986)
And for some strange reason many people claim that Freddie wrote Bohemian Rhapsody because he was dying!?!! He started writing those 3 different songs long before they recorded it in 1975 TEN years before the legendary Live Aid! According to Mercury's friend Chris Smith (a keyboard player in Smile), Mercury first started developing "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the late 1960s; Mercury used to play parts of songs he was writing at the time on the piano, and one of his pieces, known simply as "The Cowboy Song", contained lyrics that ended up in the completed version produced years later. And although there are many speculations about what the song is about no one knows for sure, because they didn't even discuss among themselves what each song means. They made three albums together "A Kind of Magic" (86), "The Miracle" (89) and "Innuendo" (91) while Freddie was still alive. Freddie recorded as many bits and pieces as he could before he couldn't sing anymore. Roger and Brian put together an album of these snippets called "Made in Heaven" (95). And in '87-'88, Freddie got to fulfill his dream: he got to meet the Spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballé, whom he admired and considered to have the best voice in the world. They recorded an album together called Barcelona and performed together in '88.

This is the same stadium that held Live Aid almost a year to the day of this concert.  The stadium held 72,000 people and they played 2 nights there. Tickets sold out within half an hour for both shows so they added a concert for a month later at Knebworth that had 150,000 people attending. Guys check out Tie Your Mother Down, Now I'm Here , Under Pressure and Another One Bites The Dust all live at Wembley. This concert was epic! I believe at this time this was the largest stage ever built for a concert.

The movie is not a documentary, not true… he did not crash out on drugs.
And queen never broke up!!!

QUEEN CANNOT BE BEAT WITH THEIR LIVE PERFORMANCES!!!!

Freddie Mercury was named the "Greatest Vocalist of All Time" in a April/May 2026 ranking by Consequence and Men's Journal. Based on a poll of over 50 musicians, the Queen frontman topped the list for his technical ability, range, and unmatched stage presence. This video from WDRB News discusses the survey that found Freddie Mercury to be the top vocalist of all time:

Guys that movie was mostly fiction. They made Freddie look like a self loathing, arrogant, selfish c unt and made themselves (Brian and Roger) look like angels pretty much.
He didn't leave the band, he didn't treat them like crap and he didn't pine after Mary after they broke up, acting all jealous and pathetic LOL he was off living his life having a great time. He WANTED her to move on because he could never be with her.
That film made Freddie look ridiculous, even down to the stupid teeth they gave the lead actor so he could barely even talk.
If you want to know about the actual band Queen and not the fictional movie, watch some documentaries and interviews and read some books.

Bryan and Roger wanted to capitalise on their heyday and get a new drop of young fans and it worked. But a lot of it was BS.

None of them crashed out on drugs. The movie was not a bio, it was drama and so false.  These were 4 college educated guys, did they party.. yes , none of them ever missed anything from crashing out... One of the hardest working bands ever... They were perfectionists who mastered the stadiums.. I was here at Wembley 86, it was fire. 104,000

He never crashed out on drugs  he didn't even drink the drinks on his  piano  were honey  and lemon  and the band never ever split up  xx  he could control the audience    he continued singing even when he was badly affected by aids.    His last song mother love.  Was   left without a last verse cause he died before he could fi nish it.

Please do not go by that movie.. Queen never broke up ever, Freddie was the 3rd member to do a solo, Roger the drummer first, then guitarist Brian, then Freddie.. Queen just came off a huge world tour for the Works.   One month before Live Aid.. they cheered each other on on their solo stuff, but Queen always came first, matter of fact Freddie released his solo album while Queen were on tour for "The Works" These guys were like brothers, best friends.. That movie got a lot of flack here in the UK cause it was so wrong.. Brian and Roger did not have as much say S they thought, and took some heat here... John Deacon the bass player was very angry over that movie. Thru their attorney John stated he was upset at the misconceptions. John retired from the band in late 96 stating " when Freddie died the heart of Queen died"  The 2 remaining carry out Freddies legacy still today...

I was at that concert ,it was amazing nothing has ever come close as a live experiance

Queen played in Brazil, sao Paolo I believe live in front of well over 200,000. Best live band ever ❤

As the drummer Roger Taylor once put it, Queen were a bloody good group!😉

Freddie was very professional.on stage never took drugs at all he mostly drank tea and honey for his throat. He was also very fit kept his body in shape that stupid film! Freddie was nothing like the man who played Frdddie! Only thing the movie did was show how magnificent Queen are!!

I was at the last concert of the magic tour, which turned out to be the last time they preformed live . I will never forget that day.

Fantastic. No phones and everyones experience of being in the moment.

I’m a queen big fan . Freddie Mercury is the GOAT . NO ONE EVEN COME CLOSE TO HIM 👊
