Also don't miss out on the Paris - Dakar rally, where actual trucks are overtaking the motorcycles and rally cars 😅

About the snow and ice, yes we drive on both, we just change to "winter-tires", with or withou spikes, depending on the surface!😊

The rally usually starts a year + before the actual event, the organizers choose the route (which is completed in compliance with all traffic regulations) and the special stages (usually 2 * 3-4 per day, Friday to Sunday, each one is completed 2 times in the morning and after lunch) for a total of, for example, 300 km of route, which includes 132 km of special stages, ~15 of them. The organizer also makes an insurance contract, everything that happens during the rally is the organizer's responsibility first.
When the rally week arrives, the drivers familiarize themselves with the special stages and write it down in their notebook. The time allowed for familiarization is usually enough to drive the track 2 times (at the allowed speed, so they have no idea how it will look 4 times the speed or while flying over).
On the day of the rally, the police close the special stages to normal traffic a few hours before the start. The teams complete the prescribed route up to the special stage and then start at the specified time. They then complete the special stage as quickly as they can. (one car at a time, 2 or rarely 3 minutes apart to allow the dust to disperse)
In the event of a machine breakdown, the team must get it running again themselves using the tools they have with them. Almost every day there is a repair break around lunchtime (where mechanics work wonders and, for example, replace a faulty gearbox in 25 minutes). Organizers are not allowed to help drivers when they drive into a ditch during a special stage, but spectators are not organizers, so they often do it (esp Finnish, liina perseesen, perä tielle !  😄)

They have metal spikes in the tyres to give them grip on the snow

I'm always impressed by how much those cars can take

Usually it is better grip with the studded tires on icy snow roads then it is on gravel roads with sufficient tires for that surface. Just think of that for a moment 😊

They can change gears like that because they're using sequencal gearboxes mate whereas normal cars use gated boxes you know 1st 2nd then move over to 3rd & 4th and so on whereas sequencal boxes the gears are in line allowing quick gear changes up & down the range getting the car up to top speed & back down again quickly.

These races are so exciting!!😅

Finlandrally is one of the fastest rallys in the world. This rally nickname is,rally of the 1000 jumps.

Snow is like sand. Good winter day its like asphalt, bad its fecked up. Melted snow is hard as feck to drive

Those cars you say are "flying"—XD—are actually just hitting crests in the road; the thing is, they take those crests at speeds of 180 to 220 km/h. A WRC car costs around $600,000 for a unit without the absolute top-tier upgrades. To give you an idea, a single unpainted bumper can cost about $12,000 due to the aerodynamics. They consume around 40 liters per 100 kilometers aprox , and the fuel costs about $12 per liter. The engine requires a teardown and inspection every 1,000 km; factory team cars are opened up after every rally to check for damage—at a cost unimaginable for the average person. The roads or stages used for the race are closed to the public about 24 hours before the event begins. Each rally covers around 300 kilometers across various roads—or sometimes involves repeating one or two stages of a certain length at different times of day. Every rally has its own defining characteristics; for instance, the Monte Carlo Rally features narrow asphalt and snow stages, including some run at night. Teams can select different tire compounds based on the rally's specific conditions—such as dry slicks, wet-weather tires, or snow tires for Monte Carlo. If you opt for slicks, you know beforehand that you will likely encounter damp patches, snow, or ice at some point, forcing you to compromise on speed in certain sections to manage the conditions elsewhere. Best regards.

Guys, if you haven't seen it already, then i would highly recommend you watch a video called  "The absolute INSANITY of Group B Rally."

Are you familiar with the Dakar Rally? Where motorbikes, cars, trucks drive hundreds of kilometres a day in the desert. Check out the BEST OF DAKAR RALLY 2024 video for an introduction.

Need to see and react to rally portugal group B

Another great reaction love from great Britain and you should do the best recovery from these

13:18 The body panel that surrounds the wheel is called a wing and the part along the front is the bumper.
The roads are closed for rallies. Would you take a chance on hitting a tractor or something?

Sometimes there are other peeps. Seen a tractor, cycklist, many cars, giraf. Puplic roads so all can happen

For snow the cars have studs for grip. There is a youtube video about that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddKMA3afko0

On the topic of if they have something on board to help them fly?

Quite the opposite!

Rally cars have massive amounts of aerodynamic downforce from their wings, splitters, diffusers and other bodywork. These cause the cars to be pushed down into the road as they go faster to improve grip. Trading top speed for grip.

So, when flying through the air, all that downforce is pushing the car back down towards the ground.

If you took a normal car and made those jumps, it would be smashed apart on landing if we are honest - but it would go at least a little further before impact!

I thought the plush in the background was Pikachu for some reason..
