Martin Scorsese’s 1995 masterpiece Casino introduced millions to the high-stakes world of Ace Rothstein and Nicky Santoro—but the real history behind the mob’s reign in Sin City was far larger, more dangerous, and more complex than what made it to the silver screen.

In this deep dive, we break down the real story of Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal, real estate mogul Allen Glick, Chicago Outfit enforcer Tony Spilotro, and how a massive multi-state syndicate skimmed millions out of Las Vegas before it all came crashing down. We’ll also explore why Universal Studios' legal department forced major script changes, how four real-life casinos were condensed into the fictional Tangiers, and the true legal battles that permanently ended the mafia's hold on Vegas.
