Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman is an incredible piece of cinema starring Hollywood legends Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci—but how much of Frank Sheeran's story is actually true? In this movie review, former Capo Michael Franzese breaks down the Netflix epic, definitively answering the question of whether Frank Sheeran actually killed union leader Jimmy Hoffa or Colombo associate Crazy Joe Gallo. Michael separates Hollywood fiction from street reality, debunking Sheeran's claims while praising the incredible acting performances that brought the American underworld to life.

Michael also reviews his four favorite scenes in the film, detailing the brilliant authenticity behind Joe Pesci’s portrayal of Russell Bufalino and Al Pacino’s explosive take on Jimmy Hoffa. He explains the strict rules of sitdowns, the massive consequences of disrespecting a made man like Angelo Bruno or Tony Provenzano, and shares personal stories of driving real-life bosses around New York. Finally, Michael drops a massive hint about the real Hoffa hit, explaining that while the movie got the shooter wrong, he has secret tape recordings revealing what actually happened.

I keep hearing about the de-aging technology used in The Irishman, but I've seen it a few times, and as best I could tell it just consisted of DeNiro dying his hair black and being called "kid" when he was supposed to be young.

I was friends with Frank's nephew, he believed he did in fact kill him. He was the last one to see Hoffa alive. Killing was nothing to Frank.He loved the service and had no qualms killing. Cold As Ice.

Personally interesting.... I'm an Irish American with roots in Philly, and my grandfather and his cousin were linked to the Philly building trades unions (roofers, bricklayers). One of the Irish labor union bosses was my grandfather's union boss, and that guy was a character in that movie The Irishman. I met that union boss at my grandfather's funeral, and he pushed me away and snarled, "You ain't half the MAN your grandfather was..." I was 13 yrs old.

He’s a change man, but he can still remember to say “I don’t remember”😮😂

Yeah. Being late at a meeting is something I couldn’t tolerate because I was also told a lesson how bad being late. Especially as a lawyer. But in my 27 years as a lawyer, 80% at least of the people I met on appointments, they are always late. Once they are late, they lost my respect.

Ok Mike, when the guy finally dies let us know who the suspect is.

Best and most tense part of the entire movie. The sit down after he blew up the wash company. Where he says, you have a great friend and Russ, and he says I know. When he says back, no, you don’t know! That is the most realistic mafia dialogue I’ve ever heard. Harvey Ketel really does not get enough credit for what he contributed to that movie.

The actor who played Tony "Pro" Provenzano ..is Stephen Graham. He's an amazing character actor. Was in alot of American films ..played "Baby Face" Nelson in Public Enemies , the Dillinger movie with Johnny Depp. Gangs of New York (w/ DeCaprio and Daniel Day Lewis).. Snatch with Jason Statham, and the short series Taboo (he played Atticus with Tom Hardy. Puts his heart in everything ❤

Did you just dry snitch on somebody?I mean, if you said you know who killed them, and the guy's still alive, wouldn't the feds be knocking on your door soon.There's no statue of limitations on murder

The Hoffa hit was all Detroit. Back then, Detroit was the second most powerful Mafia family outside of New York, arguably the 4th or 5th most powerful family overall. Nobody was going to tell them what to do. They handled the hit themselves and made sure the body was never found.

I was living in Philly when Anglo was killed, in fact my friend his father owned a barbershop less than 10 feet away from where Angelo was assassinated, and I was in his house that night. He was assassinated.

Why would the Irishman lie about killing Hoffa right before his death?

@bryanbumgardner1959 2 months ago

The Irishman was probably Scorsese’s worst effort, imo. The whole thing was based on lies and it reminded me of Goodfellas go to the nursing home.

In the military in the early 70s there was this guy . he was retired and working as a civilian instructor , I always remembered him because he was such a good guy, he was from PA and last name was Bufalino, This Movie came out and I googled Russel Bufalino... This instructor looked enough like Russelll Bufalino to be his brother or something.
