Clive was an incredible drummer   sad he passed to soon   r.i.p.

This song is 41 years old, but a masterpiece of Heavy Metal, I saw them in 2022 live in Bremen Germany, this guys are like wine, the older they are, so better the songs and whole show taste..........

I appreciate the fact you just played it all the way through without stopping it every 5 seconds to make comments. You did a good analysis of it overall and we could just watch your faces to see your immediate reactions.

"Eddie" started off as a just a head an unknown patron painted on the wall because that's the sort of thing one did in dingy rock clubs back in the day.
If you say "head" with a particular English accent, it sounds like "Ed". "Ed" is short for "Eddie", so "Ed the 'ead (or Ed the head)". The band adopted it as their mascot, and gave him more of a "typical rocker" body of the day - skinny/malnourished, bad hair, blank stare, hollow eyes, bad teeth, etc. All the hallmarks of the late 70s London Punk Rock scene.
The character has been on the cover of every album, presented in a theme that was indicative of the album title.

The band was a target of the "Satanic Panic" of the 1980s, because for some reason people didn't actually read lyrics or put any effort into interpreting album cover imagery, they just heard "666" and grabbed their pitchforks and torches.

Bruce has one hell of a voice. I’d recommend hallow be thy name (live) at Hammersmith. Also - an underrated one but Remember tomorrow at en vivo really shows what a powerhouse Bruce is.

I'm sure Eddie is explained already. His full name is Edward T. Head. T stands for Theodore, or "The"
So he is in fact, Eddie The Head.
Originally, on the original Iron Maiden album he was only a head. Also, all the physical creations of him in early era Iron Maiden, they could only make the head, and parade it around, either on a stick, or as a mask by a roadie.
So that's how he got his name.
The original artwork was by Derek Riggs, probably my all time favourite artist.
He did all the Iron Maiden art up to the album "No Prayer For The Dying" and its subsequent singles. He was replaced for the Fear Of The Dark album.
Derek Riggs has since been employed by other artists for album artwork, such as Gamma Ray and Stratovarius, which made me very happy back in the day.

Because of Eddie T Head, other bands have also been inspired to keep thematic with their album artwork, and employ a mascot. One such would be "Vic" by Megadeth.

Iron Maiden was and still is at a whole nother level. Absolutely brutal!!

My first Maiden concert was this tour! Toronto 1982.... seen them 15 times since then....Up The Irons!

"The Number of the Beast" was the first Iron Maiden, and the first heavy metal, video I ever saw. I must have been around 2 or 13. My mom was in the room when I was watching and she was just horrified! 😀 I thought "Oooh, there's potential here!" I have been a head banger ever since. I'm now 57.

IRON MAIDEN:LIVE AFTER DEATH 1985-LONG BEACH CALIFORNIA:

I saw them in Long Beach California where I lived at the time I’m in Santa Monica now but they played 4 nights from Thursday to Sunday and I was there all four nights in 1985. They filmed 🎥 the shows for what became the Live After Death cd/dvd! My favorite Bruce Dickinson moment: SCREAM FOR ME LONG BEACH…SCREAM FOR ME LONG BEACH…SCREAM FOR ME LONG BEACH ARENA!!! UP THE IRONS!!!😎😎😎🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

They're still on top on Metal Mountain. Still touring today. Eddie is on every album

I will tell you a little bit about this song. When Steve Harris was watching The Omen part 2. This song came to him in a dream. Eddie is a stage hand. He is an actual part of the show.

For their last world tour in 2019 they chartered a Boeing 747 for lead singer Bruce Dickinson to fly, painted with logo's from the "Book of Souls" tour. The plane was called "Ed Force One". There's a cool photo on line of Ed Force One parked alongside Air Force One. Iron Maiden are best appreciated live, for a band in their late 60s, they still put on one hell of a show.

If you want Bruce's best vocal performance Hallowed Be thy Name live 1982 . Best crowd sing along Fear Of The Dark  live

8:08 - "they could have made this much more sinister"  -  but we had Slayer for that.  A Slayer show could make you feel like the Devil actually WAS in the room....LOL.

Their live shows are legendary!! I've seen them 30+ since 1983 until just their last tour. The fan base is one huge happy family :)

Reactor: Wow, they are Jamming!!
Dave Murray: Hold my beer!!
Adrian Smith: No, Hold MY beer
Steve Harris: OI you twerps, gimmie back MY beer!!

Interesting choice. There are two things that Maiden does exceptionally well. First is storytelling. Second is theatrics. Lots of songs based on history and poetry.
You should check out this performance of "Hallowed be thy Name" from 82'. A lot of people start with this one. https://youtu.be/7vP2hFFV57E
