I found out they’re from London at the end of the reaction!! I thought they were American!? 🤯🤪😂🔥

in the 1980's iron maiden sold millions of albums and sold out arena's everywhere with NO Absolutely NO radio airplay

You've hit the jackpot for lyrics and writing. And learning history. You'll never stop watching and listening to maiden now

They are on tour right now with their most loved lineup ( fun fact: The singer was flying the plane at the beginning of the video!!!) . The drummer had a mini stroke in Jan this year and still started the tour in May. For audiance participation try:-  Fear of The Dark (Rock in Rio 2001) it will shock you

Genuine article... without question. Foundational.

One of the things I love about maiden is how freaking happy they always look on stage like they never grew up.

On the 26th of May 2026, they will perform in Sofia, Bulgaria. And I will introduce them to my 15-year-old son. 🤘🤘🤘

I'm a 40 year old metal chick but watching you react to this in particular made my fuckin day!!!! I'd love to introduce you to the greats from a metal chick to a hip hop king. I also have plenty of stories from touring with these bands like maiden and Motorhead and doing merch etc even some good old fashioned groupie times. So happy you're stepping your toe in the waters of theatrical metal....old school. Love Rammstein but I've been waiting for you to get here

Fun fact: the singer, Bruce Dickinson, is basically qualified to do literally everything. He's a licensed pilot, fire safety instructor, an honorary doctor of music, master's degree in history, and is a member of the UK national fencing team.

The best part of the "Devil Music" assumption is the fact that this song is practically a hymn.
Hallowed Be Thy Name starts slow and mournful with an unnamed convict in his cell facing the last day of his life, as he’s scheduled to be hanged today:

I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime
Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time
'Cause at 5 o'clock, they take me to the Gallows Pole
The sands of time for me are running low
Running low, yeah!

The song picks up pace as the priest arrives to administer last rights, and a side-by-side journey begins for the condemned - on one side his physical walk to the courtyard to face the hangman, and on the other a spiritual journey from terror to anger to serenity to acceptance and finally joy.

It’s in that second journey, and especially in it’s conclusion that the “devil music” assumption falls apart.
When the priest comes to read me the last rites
Take a look through the bars at the last sights
Of a world that has gone very wrong for me

Can it be that there's some sort of error?
Hard to stop the surmounting terror
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

As the Convict tells us what he’s thinking the music becomes an inexorable march. The Convict’s terror comes through in denial, but the beginning of peace begins to creep in as he professes his faith

Somebody, please tell me that I'm dreaming
It's not easy to stop from screaming
The words escape me when I try to speak
Tears flow, but why am I crying?
After all, I'm not afraid of dying
Don't I believe that there never is an end?

He’s not there yet. He still has some anger and frustration to work out:

As the guards march me out to the courtyard
Somebody cries from a cell, "God be with you"
If there's a God, why has he let me go?

The music continues its force march forward as the Convict examines his live and begins to arrive at serenity:

As I walk, my life drifts before me
Though the end is near I'm not sorry
Catch my soul, it's willing to fly away

From there, his faith takes over and he feels truly prepared. His early declaration that he’s not afraid is given reason and conviction:

Mark my words, believe my soul lives on
Don't worry now that I have gone
I've gone beyond to seek the truth

When you know that your time is close at hand
Maybe then you'll begin to understand
Life down here is just a strange illusion

The Music continues its seemingly unstoppable pace, but as the song progresses, you can hear it become more and more uplifting, by the end it wouldn't sound out of place in the middle of a Tchaikovsky symphony carried by violins and cellos rather than electric guitars.

By the time the music’s physical march leads the Convict into the courtyard and up the steps to the gallows, he’s no longer afraid, and he’s gone beyond serenity, into the realm of true joy. His voice is raised in ecstasy, as he joyfully begins to sing the only thing on his mind - The Lord’s Prayer:

Yeah-yeah-yeah! Hallowed be thy name!!
Yeah-yeah-yeah! Hallowed by thy name!!

The music takes you through to the end, and you know it’s the end, at least of the story,

But by the end of it, you can’t come away feeling like it’s anything but a hymn.
One of the best metal songs ever written. Maybe THE best.

Hey, new subber here! Bruce Dickinson is 65 years old (also my age) and he still sounds epic! I'm a heavy metal rocker woman that's been listening to Iron Maiden for 48 years. Saw them live seven times, and their performances never disappoint. Love your channel.....so glad I came across this. Great reaction!!! UP THE IRONS 🤘🏼

I love that you love and appreciate this. This is coming from a 51 year old metal head who Maiden born and bred.

My friend just saw them in Chicago last weekend November 2024!  Bruce Dickinson, the singer, beat throat cancer, has a history degree, is an Olympic level Fencer, has written books and has a pilots license and flew that 757 with the Iron Maiden logo! He also has flown on British mission
flights. He is an incredible person!!
Iron Maiden is an incredible band!!! So glad you like them!

Many years ago I read an article where the journalist told a great truth.
After the appearance of Iron Maiden, it can be assured that nothing would be the same. Here is born a band that will influence an entire generation.

I was at this actual concert in Toronto, one of the best shows i have ever seen

not only is Bruce a phenomenal singer - he was an Olympic-level fencer and he flys the plane you see at the start 😎🤘

I've  been a metal head all my life. Having said that, thankyou so much for diving into raw, beautiful story telling heavy metal!! I'm honored & humbled!! My 25 year old son is properly educating me on RAP.

I first saw Iron Maiden live in 1981, that was the first of eleven IM concerts I have assisted to. They are still well alive and kicking and they are currently on the "Future Past" World Tour. The line-up is still the same as you can see in this video from 2008, 15 years older and still running on the stage like crazy. For the next reactions, I would suggest anthems like "Fear of the Dark" or "The Trooper". For an amazing experience, I would also check "The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner".

The lead singer Bruce Dickenson is a certified pilot and flies that Iron Maiden Plane.

Been a Maiden fan for over 40 years. I saw them earlier this year. They are STILL AMAZING. They bring soooo much energy to the table. Their shows are something you will never forget! Bruce is the best storyteller. His crowd control is second to none. If you get a chance, GO SEE THEM! Thanks for the reaction! React to ‘Fear of the Dark’ from Flight 666… then watch the Flight 666 Rockumentary… it will give you some insight to the band
