The Debt relief initiatives, was/is enormous. There was little to no movement or spotlight on the issue until Bono stepped in. He and the band and Ali already had a history with various efforts in Africa, being a part of Band Aid and Live Aid, and also going there on their own (which was not publicized at the time). to volunteer. But Bono did more than write songs, sing about it, talk about it in concerts. He really did the work to learn everything about the situation from all aspects. He met with world leaders in all areas from politicians, to hank executives, to charity efforts etc. EVERY angle. Upon his joining the effort, the movement got massive momentum and they got the banks and countries to drop the debt. This was enormous, because it had a far greater impact that Live Aid and other charity efforts. The money and charitable efforts were stranglehold by the debt situation. Wiping out the debt was a systematic level achievement. It wasn't patchwork charity here ore there. It was foundational. Of course there are still issues, but it was a remains a huge positive impact that improved everything from infrastructure. to education, to healthcare etc.
Guys, many many ppl who watch reaction vids love to see facial expressions and some pauses in the vid so you can say something, but not talking over the music all the time ...
I’m going to recommend again that the live versions are often more impactful, especially the one from Rattle and Hum (I’m partial to the older recordings). But Bono goofed on this one. It wasn’t “early morning, April 4”, it was early evening that MLK was shot. But still a great song. And yeah, pause the music to talk.
Many people have their embarrassing karaoke story. This song is mine. I was doing fine, but then I couldn't hit the high note in the chorus, and completely mangled it. 🤣
Thought I'd give you guys another listen but there you are talking over the song instead of pausing. The lyrics are important and you have very little regard for them. It's irritating to me. Best of luck, but I'm out.
