FINALLY someone that actually understands you need to sit close to your screen in order to have the best experience. All of these home theaters have seats WAY too far away. Might as well watch it on a TV lol

Those last two Michael Bay Transformers films have genuinely spectacular quality 3D. I've always thought Wall-to-Wall & Ceiling-to-Floor screens are such an overlooked concept in home theatre. Superb.

I bought a 55" 4K OLED back in 2017 as the display for my PC, sat maybe 2.75 -3ft away. Mind blowing! After that level of immersion I couldn't go back. First thing I did when I switched to projection was go 16:9 135" at 9 ft. then quickly jumped to 150" from 10 ft., now 168" from almost 11ft. lol

Probably the best home cinema I've ever seen in my life. I always see people's setups where they've got beautiful recliners, decorate the room with all kinds of movie memorabilia, and it all looks great... but then they pull down the screen and it's tiny, or it's too far away, or it's some weird aspect ratio. This one, though, is perfect. A true home cinema. And I'm saying that as someone who already has a 5.1 setup with an 83-inch OLED, so I'm pretty spoiled myself... But I look at this and think, *wow*, the movie nights I'd have here with my friends would be incredible. I'm jealous... in the best possible way, of course.

I helped my uncle build out a home theater a few years ago, and he went with a 200" scope screen. His seats were further away, but that sucker was MASSIVE. That was a super fun project.

I'd love one day to have something similar at home.

As for IMAX screening, I remember vivdly havnig watched Interstellar in IMAX back in the day (Nolan had already repopularized IMAX at the time after The Dark Knight), and I can tell you, the actual screen ration is even taller than the one you've got (think something closer to 4/3). Seeing the dockings scenes or the black hole scene in true IMAX on such a giant screen was truly an out of body experience.

So true about 3D. I recently purchased a 3D disc of Mission: Impossible - Fallout and I was blown away at how great the 3D effects were in that film. The skydiving, motorcycle chases through the streets of Paris and the helicopter chase in the climax all looked amazing in 3D!

BTW, IMAX was a big thing back in 2014. In fact, there were more 70mm IMAX theaters back then. I saw Interstellar at our local 70mm IMAX theater 4 times! Sadly, that theater has closed. The last 2 films I saw in that theater were Dunkirk and Blade 2049. I'm so bummed since we don't have a true IMAX theater in this state. 😌

!00% agree: It's the moment when these films expand into the IMAX ratio that's so impressive (and, in my opinion, the whole point!): If the whole film is shot in IMAX you don't get that. That Transformers movie is full of sensational 3D - but, man, it's aspect ratio goes up & down like a yo-yo! Doing an AR shift just a handful of times in a movie is, in my view, the best way to do it.

Shane having Interstellar on his Kalidiscape and talking IMAX was hilarious because I went to see Interstellar at my local IMAX at a museum earlier tonight.
