In today's episode of the videocast "Polityka o Książki" (Politics on Books): Justyna Sobolewska and one of the most distinguished Polish writers, Marek Bieńczyk, a writer, literary historian, and translator who received the prestigious Nike Literary Award in 2012 for his collection of essays "Książka Twarzy" (A Book of Faces). In our studio, she discusses her intimate reading world and reveals what's worth reading. Together, the interviewees explore how a melancholic fondness for old encyclopedias and discovering the world through literature shape our sensitivity. Bieńczyk reveals which literary codes and conventions awaken us most and why literature often precedes our understanding of reality.
Also: a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the book "Rondo Wiatraczna" and Bieńczyk's radical reading style. Is fiction today merely escapism, or perhaps a way to discover what we consider the most important books? We'll, of course, throw in some personal book recommendations. And finally: how does choosing to live among books affect our perception of everyday life, and why do some stories stay with us for decades?

The Great PWN Encyclopedia
