Thanks for the video. It was reckless in an aviation industry where we plan for contingency in all circumstances.

I watched that game on YT and was shocked how low that plane was. Glad you covered it. That was a dangerous fly past that no one in the stadium signed up for. If you take risks eventually risks take you.

Thanks for another informative post. 😊😊

Absolutely right Tim. The stadium and the beach flypasts were reckless and irresponsible. The people below those aircraft were not asked and probably not warned. And as Tim mentioned Shoreham, the poor people in the traffic that got wiped out were not asked either.
Shoreham, Cape Town, or that American beach were all disasters waiting to happen.

Spot on as always Tim. Absolutely crazy, and not in a good way.

I live in a rural area where we regularly have crop-dusting aircraft flying directly over the house at extremely low altitude, well beow the 500 ft minimum. Even though they are allowed to fly low while crop-dusting, these ones are just returning to the airfield where they are based. They pass by before I can get their tail numbers, and they have their transponders turned off so they don't show up on FlightRadar. While the area has a small population, there is a cluster of houses in my immediate area, and several blocks of large trees, and overhead power lines. It would only take one small mistake or engine failure and they would have no time to try and find somewhere safe to land. Even the horticultural fields around us would be unsuitable as they have large plowed furrows, ditches and often have massive watering contraptions in operation.

That could have been an different headline, cant believe anyone authorised that at all.

Fantastic video Tim, and a great explanation of how things have the potential to go horribly pear shaped.

@shamandgg 1 month ago

Thanks for this video. People I spoke about this were confused why I am not impressed by how it was done and I work in aviation for over 20 years now. The conclusion is spot on.

Absolutely agree. Love your passion for safety. We need more of that in everything we do. Thanks for being the voice of reason Tim!

So many lessons to be learned or refreshed in this video for anyone running projects

@JimCunliffe-s7w 1 month ago

It boils down to this: flying very low directly over thousands of people puts thousands of people's lives at risk. Excellent video.

Re the f-18 jet that clipped a line of trees and ploughed into a mountain in a ball of fire in America recently. Pilot ejected and walked out of the woods with minor injuries thank god. But an older couple filmed it and gave him some good advice - “you should fly higher” good advice that.

@splodgenessabounds150 2 weeks ago

This is by far the best analysis of this event from any experienced pilot I've seen to date. Thanks Tim. 👍

@melvilib 1 month ago

100% with you Tim. When I first saw a clip of this flypast, I thought it was effing stupid. The fact it was approved rather that Pilots showboating, is even worse.

@hennnno 1 month ago

If they took a bird before flyover you’ve got asymmetric thrust, subsequent yaw, secondary adverse roll and loss of height - regardless of the experience on the flightdeck and the FBW system of the Embraer - how the regulator and the SRB of the airline approved this operation is mind-blowing. I’ve got 10+ years airline exp.

@Kevgs-241 1 month ago

Tim, You are 100% correct. I write from personal experience over the loss of my beautiful 15-year-old aspiring pilot son as a direct result of the margins of risk and outcome not being managed correctly. I’m sorry if that sounds rather cryptic but we as a family have to live with the result for the rest of our lives.
