wojtek ended up in scotland after the war, where he lived fat and happy till he died

Fun Fact: Wojtek’s squad actually visited him regularly at the Edinburgh zoo after all of them retired. They would even sometimes, against the orders of the zoo, staff, jump into his enclosure and Russell, and play with him, which shocked and sometimes scared people visiting the zoo. And they still gave him cigarettes, however, this video failed to mention that the bear did not in fact smoke the cigarettes, he ate them!

And into this day Wojtek is taught to kids in Polish elementary schools!

Cool thing is that if an ant colony discovers that one of their own is infected with cordyceps, they'll remove it from the vicinity of their colony to prevent it from spreading the spores to the others. I think I read once that they might even move the infected to a rival colony's territory, but I might be making that up 🤔

Neil was seen in Tasmania again last month...and he GREW

2:00 You could say the lady got... sealed in 🥁😁

24:49 in the taipans defense rats and mice tend to have a venom tolerance and it's to make sure the rodents cant get far but also to prevent them from fighting back and causing injuries as rats and mice can chew through anything and cause serious harm to the snakes if they're not careful

Emu's strong together, from a quote of Ian Malcom from Jurassic Park for the part of the video about the dire wolf "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."

Would it shock you to also know that the southern elephant seal is the largest pinniped mammal on earth? Yes, they are larger than even the arctic walrus. And FYI about 40 years ago there was another elephant seal named Homer who took over a boat ramp parking lot in Gisborne, New Zealand and he body slammed and dented several vehicles in the process (it’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen recorded😂).

I did indeed hear the kitten. Very cute. 😸

Here in sweden we have mercifully few dangerous animals, but we do have a problem with moose getting drunk from eating rotten fruit and wandering into towns. There was a news article about a drunk moose getting stuck in a tree in someones garden and passing out halfway up the tree.

To make a quick clarification on the Dire Wolf bit,…as of a few yrs ago, they’re not ever true wolves. E.D.G.E. Science has a whole video on it, but the short of it is that, for the longest time, Dire Wolves were classified as Canis dirus , sharing the same genus as true wolves ( C. lupus ) and domestic wolves/dogs ( C. lupus familiaris ). But a few yrs ago, a few paleontologists reexamined some fossils and did some genetic testing, only to find out that they were their own thing, this whole time. So, they renamed the scientific name w/ a former synonymous genus and now it’s called Aenocyon dirus . Also, we have an idea of what they actually looked like. Reddish brown fur and very robust for a modern large canine.

New viewer here, love yourmodel & voice, my fav part is your shocked expression, its funny

A gorilla just cannot defeat 100 men. It is comparible to one 25 year old man against a hundred 7-10 year old kids. It is just too many to deal with, and they can just use their body heat to win.

The 25 year old man can take down some, but it requires more energy than the man has to win.

😊😊

0:47 Neil the seal, the most chaotic gremlin in Australia, but we still love him he's so adorable

Hear me out ...Seal burgers 🍔

I think you look better with bigger eyes. But that's just me.

Pocket Salt.🧂

Is that an entire Human skull below your right ear? Wow, your canonical size must be enormous! About 7 times the dimensions of a normal person, by the look of it.

You're so curte ❤❤

Cool wojtek facts that always has to come up on these videos; that bear was also amazingly good at catching spies, with one story detailing a german spy entering the barracks, seeing wojtek, and metaphorically shitting himself before running to local command to report a wild bear in the barracks. Wojtek also knew his platoon so well that he could identify them by smell, so he would react to people who didn't smell familiar, and if someone is wearing a uniform of someone who should be recognised but isn't the person, he knew about it. After his retirement to a zoo in scotland, his platoon buddies would frequently get in trouble for jumping in to his enclosure to interact, feed, and wrestle.
