Listen, I get why huntsman are seen as scary, but objectively they are harmless

I return once again to add additional context, nuance, and information!

2:58 this all, combined with sheer territorial nature of the hippo is why they boast the title of being one of the deadliest animals in the world, and especially so in Africa. They don’t even swim, they just run under the water.
3:15 it’s funny that they show the crocodile video, because there is actually GENERATIONAL beef between crocs and hippos. Crocodiles will sometimes feed on baby hippos that stray away from the pod, and in revenge, hippos will run it on sight with any crocodiles.
3:21 they are not related to pigs at all actually, they’re closer in relation to whales.

4:04 funny enough, they are an example of insular/island dwarfism, meaning that island versions of mainland animals tend to be smaller. The mainland ones, which are extinct now, used to be WAY bigger.
5:42 this has actually proven to be incorrect! It’s mainly the venom just destroying clotting factors, and Komodo dragons have been revealed to be quite clean animals. In fact, they’re neat freaks, consistently cleaning themselves and their mouths before and after eating. It’s just that…open wounds like that tend to attract bacterial infections among other things
6:32 they also somewhat hunt in packs
6:56 funny enough, they’re actually very calm and shockingly relaxed around people. In fact, in captivity they can bond VERY strongly with their keepers, to the point of playing with them and curling up next to them
Extra info! Komodo’s are a type of monitor lizard, which all are famously intelligent and speedy, among other things. Many monitors like the Argus, Peach-Throat, and Ackie, are kept as pets because of this, effectively dogs on lizard hardware where you can even walk them on a harness, will recognize their names and will learn tasks very quickly.

8:56 so there is a specific reason as to why their venom is so toxic, especially if the only prey is rodents. See, rodents breed fast, and thus can evolve very quickly over generations. And the inland taipan, is in an arms race with these rodents, as they are constantly evolving resistances to said venom, which means the taipan also has to evolve more effective venoms in response…which leads to us, having ZERO resistances to that venom, immediately folding.
In addition, despite being called the “Fierce Snake” due to its destructive capability as the most venomous snake, the Inland Taipan is INSANELY shy, and understandably so being in the Outback. In fact it’s insanely hard to get a bite because of venom being such a precious resource in that hostile environment.

11:18 your heart is also a muscle
11:30 the worst part about tetradotoxin is that it leaves the brain FULLY conscious of what is happening, so you are completely helpless. If you are gotten to in time by medical professionals, they effectively need to hook you up to machines to do your heartbeat and breathing for you until the venom leaves the system
12:02 see, the thing is…most of Australia is actually VERY safe. The people are very aware of potential threats and have taken steps to avoid it, like federally funded antivenom programs, fast responses, and overall NOT BOTHERING THE FUCKING ANIMALS. In fact killing certain native animals is punishable by prison time in Australia. Many of these animals do not want to hurt you, and will leave you alone unless you push them to the point of fearing for their lives.

13:28 I mean there are filters in our eyes that deny us the ability to see into the ultraviolet spectrums…which is actually a good thing, because ultraviolet light is VERY damaging and will lead to blindness and eye cancers.
14:57 they are keepable in aquariums…but they need VERY thick glass/acrylic because if not, they can get annoyed and just shatter the glass with a strike.

17:15 this is slightly inaccurate, as cone snail venoms can possess almost 400 different types of toxins in their venoms, though most of them seem to be neurotoxic in nature
18:01 this is because each individual snail has their own combination of venom! The cells involved in venom production effectively have full license to recombine proteins however they want to generate toxins, leading to a very wide variety of venoms and making it VERY hard to synthesize antivenom. On the other hand, this makes them INSANE when it comes to creating potential medicines, as like most venoms, some have use cases in medical practice, such as a component of cone snail venom that is 1000x stronger than morphine. The cone snails are also known as cigarette snails and are the prime reason you DO NOT pick up shells on the beach, as if you are stung, you have about as much time to smoke a cigarette before you die

19:51 these claws also stay insanely sharp because they walk on their knuckles, making sure that the claws do not touch the ground as they move around
20:10 this is compounded by the fact that they are not very good in the eyesight department, which means that they need to be on HIGH alert a lot, especially considering the other predators in the area like harpy eagles, jaguars, caiman, etc. that said even jaguars often give anteaters a very wide distance, and do not hunt them often because of the risk
20:17 do not shoot the licky boi. Simply leave it alone

21:26 …huntsman spiders are not found in the US, unless you mean Wolf Spiders, which are part of the same family, and are actually immensely helpful animals, even being used to protect crops like cranberries
22:36 this is because like all Wolf spiders, they hunt using amazing eyesight and their speed to chase down and eat prey, and consequently do not make many webs. Quite clean
23:03 they have paws yes, many hairy spiders have paws, such as tarantulas and jumping spiders
23:35 he’s actually missed some information here, as aside from eating the pests like flies, roaches and mosquitoes, they also hunt and eat potentially dangerous spiders like Redbacks and Funnel Webs, which is the main reason Aussies appreciate them. They also bond quite strongly with humans.
24:02 this is why the sun visor is usually down in most Aussie cars, to avoid this lol
As stated before, huntsman spiders are INSANELY timid animals and will even learn your routine exclusively to avoid you. If you do see them, it’s usually because the routine was deviated from, or it’s new to the area…or it’s comfortable with you, because it feels safe and that you won’t hurt it. They can even bond strongly enough to be pet very gently.

Fun fact Hippos closest modern day relatives are actually Whales they share a common ancestor one became semi aquatic and the other decided he wants to take a forever bath

rhinos are WAAAY more likely to act like a lapdog than a hippo, no not kidding, and hippoes kills the most humans in Africa every year of any animal...

I actually went to my local zoo and saw a komodo dragon and their just as huge as Moreparz described. I also saw an Emu too a much smaller one, but still huge.

Ah Australia the prototype for Florida

1:35 Not the eye roll 😭😂

Reaction video idea: chat music and lockpicking lawyer April fools videos 😁

Everywhere is safe

You're funny as heck. Aussie here

hippos are pure muscle build they can run underwater
also Moo Deng is a pigmy hippo which are less aggressive then normal hippos

12:14 funny enough the spiders are the least threatening cause all you need to do is minding your own business
18:17 simple:they k!ll jaguars as adults
23:26 they also eat deadlier spiders

Komodo Dragons are exceptionally horrifying if you're on your period. If you're in an island where they live for vacation, its highly recommended to not be on your period, as Komodo Dragons will walk up and swarm you thinking your a bleeding out animal like what usually happens when they initially bite their prey.

In captivity at zoo's, however, they are often a favorite for Zookeepers due to being very affectionate.

I like your voice, it is very cute.

You should watch America Wizard

Hi Oinko, hope you've had a great weekend, a major difference between Hippos and Pigs is that Hippos have almost no body fat they are so densely muscled that they can't swim or float and instead sprint across the river/lakebed and jump to the surface when they need to breath. Even with as scary as wild boars are, the hippos are another level.

Fantastic video

This was a fun stream! And I second that last bit. Going to Australia is not on my bucket list unless I have a death wish! 😅

Tanks for the reaction 👍 also Im a new sub 😉😉😉🫡🫡🫡❤️❤️❤️
