From closet-find pre-war Martin acoustics to holy-grail vintage Gibson electrics, few things on Antiques Roadshow match the thrill of an unassuming owner discovering their family heirloom is worth a small fortune. This compilation brings together some of the most memorable vintage fretted-instrument appraisals in the show's history. Watch expert appraisers examine the fine details—original lacquer checking, Brazilian rosewood, factory paperwork, and distinctive headstock inlays—on historic acoustic guitars, classic electric axes, and rare collectible banjos, before delivering life-changing valuation shocks. Whether you're a vintage guitar player, an instrument collector, or just love the pure disbelief on an owner's face when six figures enter the conversation, these are the appraisals that every gearhead remembers.

I don't think I am alone here when I say that what is truly irritating to me is that oftentimes someone has an amazing instrument yet can't play a note and does not care about the music or the tone but the value is significant.

Crazy how many expensive ass guitars just sittin in closets with people that treat it like porcelain dishes lol

@davestambaugh7282 2 weeks ago

They went to guitars because the long scale coupled with being tuned in fifths made it very hard to stretch to play chords, where as the fourth tuning of guitar was far less painful!

This looks like a senior citizen event in the 90s wtf how is this new

02:00 This dude should have taken the $40k because a store selling for him is going to take a sizable chunk out of that $40 - 45k

$45,000 for a “62 Strat and $48,000 for another Strat? I have these beans for sale and, they are magic, really they are!

The RIDICULOUS assessments that Antique Road show does *FOR ITS PUBLIC PROGRAM TV SHOW) ....In person, however, the people participating in purchases at these so called antique road shows are some of the most dishonest CROOKS EVER ...... Example: I went to a "road show" and I brought with e a chalice. It was a church chalice that was 14k solid gold and weighed almost a pound. I KNEW the gold value all by itself. It was made in France in the 1700's. A man at the road show said he could get them all day long for 50 bucks.... I told him. I would give him 4 times that for every one he could get me. He turned and ANGRILY walked away but he discovered I wasn't a SCHMUCK with him trying to steel $40,000.00 worth of gold from me. ... dirty piece of trash.. DO NOT TRUST ANTIQUE ROAD SHOW. ALL their estimates on these guitars were WAAAAAY OVER estimated!!!!!!

48 grand for the left handed Strat. Wow! I have a 1964 Strat in Fiesta red. I bought it in bits from an auction for less than a thousand pounds. This was in 2005. The only unoriginal none stock part is the case which I had to source separately. Everything was in the box. Why it was in bits like that I do not know, but it came to me. Now an heirloom as well as one of my main players.

No screws turned 57 strat and the fool rips the neck off

@rossauce12 2 weeks ago

There is no way this is mewer

@miraposajehano4309 2 weeks ago

1956 Les Paul for 10000$? Where can I reach that farmer?

@highlystrung6766 2 weeks ago

These 'experts' don't know which way up and down are regarding the Guitar. They repeatedly say "up the neck" when it's actually down. That's how you tell the difference between someone who knows a little bit and a someone who plays.

@davestambaugh7282 2 weeks ago

The Lyon and Healy mandola has a not so true fudged ellipse! But ugly !

@ericcarter7062 2 weeks ago

And here it is again it's still goes on in the next one the 57 has an adjustment at the Head stock plus it's got one if you look real close at the heal how much money do you think he's appraisers are making with this I just don't understand how nobody but me is noticing this stuff!!!! Come on you guitar enthusiast to chime in on some of the stuff why aren't you calling this stuff out?????

@ericcarter7062 2 weeks ago

I still don't know why they keep pushing this one , the 53 tele blackguard ,the appraiser is a total ignorant appraiser it's either a fake, or he's not going to mention the truss ROD ADJUSTMENT IS AT THE HEADSTOCK!!!!!!!! It's either a FAKE, OR the neck is a post 1970 replacement, which lowers the value a LOT!!!!! any opinions????
