what I've learned from these shows is that the councils are useless. They catch people by running random checks years into the tenancy that they could have done at the application stage. Most of these people get caught through their own stupid mistakes!

So he's living it up with his big football coach wages, $380/month from the sublet and also doing Chauffer work? He's doing pretty nice. Wow! My question is, what about the poor lady subletting? Will she be evicted now?
I have lived in Ontario social housing for 7 years. The first 6 years, I paid $890/month for a two bedroom condo with my son and after my son left the nest I moved into a small one bedroom and pay $665/month. I have 3 dogs and I'm a full-time student. I'm grateful to have this home so that I can complete my schooling and still afford to live, eat and care for my animals. I don't get why people take advantage, people actually need these homes. Wow

Why sentence, these people, just deport them, save some money.

Anyone who does not care for their social housing, should be kicked out. This means outside too.
The sense of intitlement is the problem with UK housing, brought up in council house and then exspected to stay there for life.
It does not encourage anyone to save for a deposit to buy their own property.
Defiantly not everyone .

I stil can't belive how these people are let off so easily. So he stoked 5k.and then ordered to pay 5k back. What, about the 2 years of time spent and man hours and investigation. Pay back at least 8k and that's still very very very light.

What a mess the apartment the two subletting girls had.

This is why 6 month maintenance needs to be done all social housing. For one the houses should  cared for  and maintained in the same way other government taxpayer funded buildings are, and 2nd because this crap happens.

What a shame for the young couple with the baby living in a one room then the scumbags frauding the system and couples like these cant find a plce to live

what makes me sick is that the council should have told the two women in mr rajis flat to leave straight away as they had no right to be there

If somebody is caught subletting in a council house, they should immediately go to jail and pay all the restitution of the money that they have collected half the time. They don't do this. They just give 'em a warning and a bill. It's time to do your job and put him in jail end of story

Geezus the balls on some people. Here in Australia there's not alot of government housing. We have always rented privately as others who rent at least 90% of rentals are private through realestate agents. We have 6 monthly inspections which are a pain in the ass but it keeps people honest and your house clean.
I just don't understand how dodgy the UK system is.

Didn't the real woman, who's NI number was being used, realise she was paying a boat load of tax when she got her P60?

Also a suspended sentence to these type of people means they got off.

Why does it take so long to get the keys back when it's blatantly obvious the tenant is sub letting. "Oh please sir can you give us the keys back to our property!" - WTF. The moment the fraud team had the evidence sub letting is going on, they should have gotten the keys back no court action just do it, complete waste of time and money, and more to the point keeping that property from someone who really needs it.

The court should have find him more than what they did.and that lady from Jamaica the tax payers still got hit by a plane flight back to Jamaica. The trash has been sent away.

Councils should give rewards to people who report cheats. Let the public help solve the problem.
