He doesn't know it, but everything in Truman Burbank's (Jim Carrey) life is part of a massive TV set. Executive producer Christof (Ed Harris) orchestrates "The Truman Show," a live broadcast of Truman's every move captured by hidden cameras. Christof tries to control Truman's mind, even removing his true love, Sylvia (Natascha McElhone), from the show and replacing her with Meryl (Laura Linney). As Truman gradually discovers the truth, however, he must decide whether to act on it.

"I am the creator, (pause) of a TV show." What a God complex!

There's a deleted scene where Christof discusses his plan to create 2 shows on separate channels, with the second starring Truman's child from a new spouse. That's how far he was planning to take it. It's so sick, that Marlon's actor bluntly asks if they'll go back to one channel when Truman dies, clearly disgusted.

At 4:13 the light had the word SIRIUS on it. That light represented the Sirius star in the sky at night.

"What else is on?" So real, I love this movie.

People say Jim Carrey only does comedy stuff. The Truman Show is where i see how comedy can show off so many emotions. Especially the ending. Truman saying "Good afternoon, Good evening, and Goodnight." Isnt just a comedic bit. Its truman accepting his life as it was and moving on. Jim Carrey will always be one of my favorite actors ever!

"Good morning, and in case I don't see ya: Good afternoon, good evening, and good night!"

There's a theory that Truman knew about the scheme all along however he did not know who else was in on it. The bridge monologue scene with Marlon was the final straw when he realized that there was no one to be trusted.
There's no actual natural sunlight in the dome so Truman always has to take vitamin supplements
Love the music in this movie
You have to ask yourself what are the actual legal ramifications of holding Truman hostage like this. Even when he wants to leave, they still try their hardest to prevent him from escaping to the point of attempted murder. Not to mention the PTSD of killing off his father.
22:47 if you watch closely, you can actually see Marlon removing the items from the vending machine and then restocking them (kind of an NPC loop)

The part I think about most is how much gaslighting and coercing it must have taken to get Truman to marry Meryl.

Now you got to see where that Rick & Morty simulation episode came from.

If you were unsatisfied with the ending, that was the point.

You don't get to see how his life turns out because the cameras arent following him anymore.

Finally, someone who gets the fingers crossed scene. Most reactors miss that one.

Truman: certified escape artist

The whole thing of trying for a baby gets more horrifying when you really think about it.

That means they're already planning for the future when Truman passes away.

I love that yall picked up on so many of the background details 😀

You know what would be even more terrifying? If it turned out that Truman was paranoid schizophrenic and his coming to realisation that he is in the false reality was his distorted perception. Especially that the things like this are really happening.

I actually find this movie to be such a gem. In fact, I think it inspired other movies and shows to a similar kind of genre. Where the main character is stuck in a fake sitcom reality, but there are certain unusual things he notices and starts putting the pieces together and tries to get himself out. This kind of concept was used for other movies and TV shows in the future like WandaVision, one Supernatural episode, one DuckTales (2017) episode, even a year after this movie came out, there was a more “comedic” version of this concept called EdTV. But IMO, The Truman Show pulled off this concept the best. It truly represents what would you do if you were stuck in a fake reality where everything looks too perfect.
