Great you can do this on your own and feel comfortable doing it. It’s beyond my skill level. I just pay the local bmw dealer for work on mine. Thanks for sharing fascinating to see !
Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I was considering doing my own service but after seeing this I will WISELY pay a professional wrencher. I've done plenty of repairs on 70s-00s cars, but find I don't enjoy it anymore and it's just crazy with all the new tech. Big 👍 to you. Safe journeys.
Well I have to admit, I was a Motorcycle and Small engine and Marine Mechanic and have been working on and servicing all makes of motorcycles since the 70’s and have never had any services done at a dealer accept the first one for the BMW because it was included in the deal. I have my own tire machine and that’s the only service I offer now is tire changing and balancing
Thanks for info, I have a question on coils. My gs911 gives me 4 and 6 coils output open circuit. Would you change only those two coils or change all 6 with rmstator coils which are almost a quarter of the price.
Hello Randy, nice video! advice: how long (in hours) does it take to dismantle the parts to reach the injection coils (carrosserie and radiator)? My k1600 gt started to be rough at idle, and I think it maybe a defective coil (or a wet one, I washed the bike with pressure 3 weeks ago). Thanks!
This is great information, thank you for filming this process. How did you get information regarding the ABS and connecting your laptop to the bike? Thanks!
Awesome video Randy! Would be great if you had a tripod and could record the entire service! I've got the same color - Demansk Red - K1600 - 2013. Really like the bike hoist - showed it to my wife - maybe a Christmas present next year! I was surprised to see your rear brake pads still in "new" condition - just assumed they would be worn. Did you replace the rear pads previously - maybe at 24 or 18k miles? why don't you use the center stand vs the hoist (on the hoist)? I just bought my bike this year - had 13,750 on it - and put ~5k on it this summer - so ready for my 18k service. I'll have this one done at the BMW dealer - but in the future would like to be able to do the minor service {(oil, brake pads, etc.). Do you have to take the fairing off to remove the gas tank covers to get to the air filter? Thanks for the insights!
Hi Randy, very informative video, how /where do you make the adjustment if the spec is out for either intake or exhaust? I had an RT, which was very strait forward to adjust the valves..
Hi. After replacing the pump and injectors, and cleaning the fuel injection system, the engine does not start. When I disconnect the tube from the pump - quick connector, the engine runs smoothly for several seconds (fuel pressure below 1 Bar). After reconnecting, it turns off (Fuel pressure 3.5-4Bar). The scanner shows no errors. I don't know what the cause is.
Randy I have a 2015 k1600gt w/11,000 miles. It just started a clacking sound around 3000 rpms and it makes a similar noise decelerating through the 3000 rpm range. I accelerated hard to 6000 rpm and no problems (no clacking, smoke, missing popping etc.) But while decelerating through 3000 rpm it made the same noise. Reading in the forums there are many posts regarding this. I called the dealer and was told the valves probably need to be adjusted. This is contrary to the posts on the forum. Have you had any similar experience with your bike or maybe friend's bikes. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
