For those curious: The world record for Metroid Zero Mission Low% (or 9%) is 47m53s (as of today 29th January 2026) . If Jup was to submit this run (and the run being verified, approved and all) he would've been 10th place on the leaderboard. <3
These sort of runs are the kind of Survival Horror that makes Metroid exciting. Fusion's chase sequences and reactor meltdown were great for me because of that race to survive, but low resources in Zero Mission are also nice for that because of how hard they push your limits.
I’ve only successfully done this on hard mode once in my life. Turns one of the best Metroid games into one of the hardest most rage inducing experiences ever. It’s pretty great
Acid Worm skip is my favorite skip in the game, because you just made the Kraid escape almost impossible for no reason or time save, pure masochism for the hell of it.
Saw this a while ago from an ancient GDQ run by DragonDarch (doing this on Hard), it's easily my favorite speedrun. Hype as hell to hear you're learning it!!!
I've been speedrunning ZM on and off on a casual level for years, my favorite way to speedrun it is actually 100%. I don't know why, I think it's because it feels really good to see that 100% at the end of the game as the timer lowers and lowers. My current PB (in-game-time) is 1:34:24, but I could easily get sub 1:30:00 if I locked in.
Watching this has made me appreciate ZM so much more! I remember with my casual play through that the bosses were such a massive disappointment and the game just felt too easy. This video was so engaging and allowed me to get a fresh perspective. Thank you JupiterClimb!
