For The Love Of Rugby

Ben Youngs and Dan Cole have jetted off to Dublin to chat with Ireland, Munster, and British & Irish Lions legend Peter O’Mahony!

Peter reflects on his amazing career, upon the release of his new autobiography, All In.

Talk begins with Ireland’s World Cup Frustrations in 2019 and 2023, and the key differences between playing under Joe Schmidt and Andy Farrell.

We couldn’t have Mr Munster on the pod and not chat about his beloved region, with the highs of winning a URC and playing under the genius Rassie Erasmus, to a fiery end involving a pen being thrown at him.

This, and plenty more, on the latest episode of For The Love Of Rugby!

Loving him as a TV commentator. The passion and uncompromising approach to the game still leaks through to the screen.

England fan here, I have always admired Peter. Great player and character, so have ordered the book.

From a Leinster fan it’s hard to not admire what Peter has done for the Irish jersey. He put his body on the line every game. That 2021 game against NZ in the Aviva I think it was, where he chased back for that bouncing ball really cemented how great a player he was. I’m struggle to think of guys who would lay everything down for the green jersey regardless of what happens to their body in today’s squad. I would argue Lowey but Leinster made such a balls of his contract that we won’t ever see him again.

Great interview lads, you're getting pretty good at this! Big love to Pete from a Leinster man!

Absolutely love the story about realising things have changed, you're not doing what's right for your team and own up to it, even if you lose the captaincy - and then being better. He's put in some incredible shifts and that series win in NZ, watching him tear up at what it meant, that's stayed with me. Great chat.

A legend of the game we love, and a great man who loves his gardening!

There was something about playing New Zealand where Peter O'Mahoney would just remind everyone that he's world class. He deserved more gold in the cabinet and will go down as a true great of Ireland and Munster.

Great watch 😊 I'm an Ulster fan but also loved the pure passion POM played & lead with, especially in a red shirt 👏

They knew they were stirring the pot with that title haha

As an England fan I was always happy when he wasn’t on the team sheet when we played Ireland. He was a bloody nuisance for every minute he was playing. Fantastic player.

I played rugby with both of his younger brother. The middle one is a mad man and a hell of a back row.
The youngest is the most like Peter. Crazy rugby family and damn good people !

I'm a true blue Leinster fan but I have always liked and respected Peter. He is an incredible strong character and his absence from the game is felt in Ireland and in world rugby in general.

As a voice actor I have to say fair foooks to Pete for voicing his own audiobook 👏👏

What a top bloke Peter is. When he talks about his game improving after he had kids because he developed a more balanced view on life inside and outside rugby, it shows the maturity of the man. But I'd also reference Tim's tribute on the Eggchasers YouTube channel, entitled "Nails". A great word that sums him up as a rugby player.

That's the first time I've listened to Peter speak at length. I always saw him as a man of few words. I never would have imagined he'd be as good a talker as this chat shows him to be.
